fee . . . and topped with

sprinkles of cinnamon.
The Prime Rib Room at
TBQ's Other Place in
Windsor has only been
open about seven weeks,
seating just 90 or 95
people . . . Those who
love elegant dining with
an extremely personal
and intimate touch, will
go crazy about this place.
NEGLECTED MEN"-
TION of Betty LaBell in
recent item about Old
Time Deli on Orchard
Lake and 12 Mile . . .
Ben's wife is responsible
for that delicious barley
soup recipe.
SIGN OF THE Beefea-
ter restaurants have
been owned by Montgom-
ery Ward Co. since 1972
. . . There were only
seven of them . . . Today
there are 14, with 11 in
the Detroit area and
three in Chicago . . .
Another local site is set
for this spring . . . The
first Beefeater restau-
rant was Royal Oak based
in 1956.
THE NEW LOOK at
Carson's Chop HouS-e on
Woodward south of Grand
Blvd., includes new
owner, personable Gus

Dixon, new decor (starlit food. That's the Balaton
ceiling a la Las Vegas), restaurant on 12 Mile,
huge, clean kitchen ap- just east of Greenfield
pointments . . . new . . . Six booths, two small
doorway leading into the tables, and a counter with
place direct from valet half a dozen seats . . .
parking lot . . . Chef Goulash, for example, is
Ezio De Felicis weaving made with meat 'ex-
his fine cooking ways in pressly for goulash (beef
the kitchen . . . excellent shank) rather than the
waitresses like Ann Re- same used in other dis-
znik . . . extra clean car- hes.
SORRY, LEFT off the
peting, etc . . . A big fea-
ture at the new Carson's name of Iry Greenberg as
Chop House is a huge the other bossman at
walk-in refrigerator Plaza Deli on
where fresh meats are Northwestern and 12
hung for Ezio to make Mile.
"TO YOUR HEALTH"
those yum-yum dishes of
. . . That's the meaning
his.
ONE OF THE best in Greek of the name Yas-
things to happen serv- soo, which has taken over
icewise to a restaurant is where former Roman
Rose Guttman's new idea Gate used to be on Wood-
at Irving's Delicatessen ward one block south of 14
on Greenfield and 11 Mile Mile . . . Full name is
. . . So simple and yet so Yassoo Greek Village,
very good . . . Rose con- owned by Dionysis
ceived the thought of hav- Nikolopoulos (call him
ing boxes made and Don Nick) and former
placed on the wall of each Tiger catcher Jim Price
booth . . . to hold the salt, . . . with just about ev-
pepper, catsup, mustard, erything you can get in
sugar, etc . . . thereby Greektown without going
giving more dining space downtown.
The ex-Roman Gate
to the table and making
things much easier for site was completely gut-
both waitress and cus- ted inside . . . and now
tomer . . . Amazing that
no one thought of this be-
fore!

Practicurn program,

Funds (CJF).
Practicum
CJF's
Chairman is Philip
Granovsky of Toronto,
who also serves as chair-

the practicum for UJA is
Sanford Hollander of
Morris-Sussex Counties,
New Jersey.
The practicum is de-
signed to give intensive
individual and group
training to 50 committed
campaign workers in two
separate groups of 25 par-

The practicum offers

has seven intimate cafe
areas upstairs in which to
dine . . . The quiet and
very authentic Greek
motif extends to all wait-
ers wearing white aprons
from the waist down as in
the old country, says Don
. . . Downstairs is like a
little nightclub . . . very
cozy-looking . . . with a
bouzouki player and
Greek ethnic culture
dancing.
Lunch was very good
. . . delicious lemon soup,
combination of shish
kabob, spinach pie and
rice pilaf . . . The coffee
was excellent . . . no way
like some places in Greek-
town where the waiters
like it very strong and
think you do, too.
Yassoo Greek Village
has only been open two
weeks, seating almost 400
. . . with waiters upstairs
and waitresses
downstairs . .- . General
manager is Pete Peponis
. . . You'll always see
owner Don Nick walking
around just like his other
waiters . . . wearing an
apron as he seats people
. . . He's the guy with the
long mustache.
