The Best of Everything

CHOOSE FROM

ONE OF OUR most ex-
cellent dining experi-
ences happened in
Windsor recently . . . It
was in the newly opened
Prime Rib Room at The
Other Place on Dougall
Road.
To say anything other
than this was true ele-
gant dining a la Europe or
New York would scarcely
be enough . . . Every-
thing was perfect . . . a
romantic dining atmos-
phere that enveloped
true delightful enchant-
ment with out-of-this-
world prime rib of beef
and service at its very
best.
Our first impression
after being seated was
the English way of doing
things . . . A napkin
wrapped with dining
utensils in front of us in-
stead of on the side . .
Live gypsy music of vio-
lin, piano, bass and guitar
coddled its enchanting st-
rains to the beautiful
decor . . . The Prime Rib
Room is certainly one of
Windsor's most inti-
mately elegant . . . rustic
beams against ceilings of
rustic design . . . a lot
like the pubs of England,
only very much more
lavish.

with mushrooms and
chives.
The white top-hat gent
rolling his prime rib cart
around the room and cut-
ting the beef a la waitress
orders, is Peter Vezina,
who should receive a
trophy himself for the way
he prepares prime rib . . .
It comes in two sizes, great
cut and place cut . . . plus,
if desired, English-style
sliced . . . Frieda and our-
selves each had the place
cut . . . and were given
good-sized serrated
kitchen knives instead of
the small dainty ones that
are more for looks than
anything else . . . Ann
brought us both a freshly
baked potato, put on our
sour cream and chives, and
if desired for the prime
rib, white creamy horse-
radish which really cleans
out the sinus passages.
Then Ann brought still
another cart for our flam-
ing coffee a la place, made
with amaretto and
brandy . . . She was per-
fection, rolling the
warmed glass in lime and
cinnamon, then a bit of

MAKE PLANS FOR THE BEST
NEW YEAR'S EVE OF ALL!

TBQ'S Other Place is a
very fine restaurant . . .
and with the recent addi-
tion of its Prime Rib Room,
a peer would'be most hard
to find . . . Manager of
The Other Place, Sam
Houston (pronounced
House-ton), and assistant
mgr., Rhonda Morneau,
have, together with owner
Tom Racovitis, weaved an
unbeatable combination of
superb dining enjoyment.

Enough can not be said
for the wonderful service
. . . There are no such
things as stations here
for the waitresses . . . if
they see customers sit-
ting they go over to help,
like Elizabeth Gall, who
brought wife Freida and
ourself coffee and a
cocktail . . . or like Ann
Mocko, who kept coming
over and emptying our
ashtrays . . . The wait-
resses are expertly
trained in pleasing the
customer no end and in
knowing what • they are
doing.
After a setting of two
small loaves of bread,
light and dark, plus three
types of butter (garlic,
pimento and chive), our
waitress was very pleas-
ant and knowledgeable
Ann McLaughlin, who
brought a cart to the
table and mixed in front
of us the Prime Rib Room
special salad that
everyone gets.
It was great, made with
fresh Romaine lettuce,
artichokes, baby corn,
hearts of palm, black and
green olive slices . . . As
she served it, Ann ex-
plained that the salad
was on iced plates with
iced forks . . . and then
opened a napkin, saying,
"Choose your fork" much
like the second at a duel
. . . No rushing — this
was true casual dining
. . . Ann then brought us
delicious quiches made
