Low Cholesterol Diet Book Printed

In "Diet for a Happy
Heart" author Jeanne Jones
has created or adapted
some 200 recipes for a low-
cholesterol, low-saturated
fat, sugar-free diet. But
the diet is far from dull. It
encompasses dishes from all
over the world and low-cho-
lesterol adaptations of
usually prohibited foods
such as souffles.
Published by 101 Produc-
tions of San Francisco,
"Diet for a Happy Heart" is
one of the few diet cook-
books which lists the choles-
terol and calorie count, per
portion, for each recipe and
for a list of over 300 foods,
as well as their protein, car-
bohydrate and fat content.
Menus for a daily choles-
terol intake of 200 milli-
grams are included as well.
In writing the book Mrs.

Jones worked closely with
doctors and dieticians. The
preface is by Dr. Max Ellen-
berg, clinical professor of
medicine at Mt. Sinai Hos-
pital and President of the
American Diabetes Associa-
tion.

In it he states, "This
comprehensive guide . . .
is admirably suited to help
prevent coronary artery
disease. The author pre-
sents for the first time, a
book that recognizes the
intimate interrealation-
ship and interdependence
between diabetes, fat and
obesity."
Mrs. Jones is food editor
of Forecast Magazine,
published by the American
Diabetes Association.
"Diet for a Happy Heart"
is illustrated with wash
drawings by the noted
New York artist Jeremiah
Goodman.
