ADL to Begin Annual Conference Today
NEW YORK == The Anti-
Defamation League of Bnai
Brith will hold its 61st annual
meeting today through Mon-
day at the Waldorf-Astoria
Hotel. Some 300 ADL leaders
from all sections of the coun-
try- will convene to set the
agency's policy and program-
ming for the coming year.

manitarian Award Dinner on
Nov. 10 at Cobo Hall, honor-
ing John J. Riccardo, presi-
dent of Chrysler Corp.
National, state and Detroit
area notables will participate
in the program honoring Ric-
cardo "for distinguished and
enduring contributions of a
humanitarian nature".
Proceeds of the banquet
will benefit the Youth Ser-
vices program of Bnai Brith,
aiding 200,000 young people.
Samuel J. Stone, interna-
tional vice president of Bnai
Brith, will be the guest speak-
er. Lawrence M. Carino, vice
president and general man-
ager of station WJBK-TV,
will introduce the 80 guests
on the dais.
Cantor Jacob Barkin, of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, will
sing musical selections.

chairman of the United Jew-
ish Appeal, will give a mes-

WASHINGTON — Israeli
novelist, Amos Oz, will be
the -lead-off lecturer next
month for Bnai Brith's Visit-
ing Lecturer series.,
Nine other renowned au-
thors and scholars will tour
the United States and Canada
between November and April,
visiting colleges, synagogues,
community centers and civic
clubs in some 70 cities.
Bnai Brith adult Jewish
education department in-
augurated the Visiting Lec-
turer program in 1962, ar-
ranging for the late Dr. Cecil
Roth of Oxford University to
speak in 13 cities, The pro-
gram has since been endorsed
by the State Department for
its cultural exchange import-
ance.
