Social Work Project

NEW YORK—Yeshiva Uni-
versity's Wurzweiler School
of Social Work has announc-
ed the fourth annual joint so-
cial work program in Israel,
a 12-week supervised work-
learning program for gradu-
ate social work students to
encourage them to enter the
Jewish social work field,
either in the U.S. or Israel.
The program is a combined
effort by the Wurzwelier
School of Social Work, Paul
Baerwald School of Social
Work of Hebrew University
and youth hehalutz depart-
ment of the Jewish Agency,
and the American Zionist
Foundation.

New UAHC Head
Seeks Higher Status
for Reform in Israel

ander M. Schindler, the new-
ly elected head of the Union
of American Hebrew Congre-
gations, said that the UAHC
"would press on a political
level to achieve more promi-
nent status for Reform Juda-
ism in Israel's religious life."
Rabbi Schindler said that
Reform Judaism "is going to
assert its rights and not ac-
cept a second-class citizen-
ship" in Israel. He added, at
