How Far Will Blackmail Go?

Editor, The Jewish News:
It would appear that the
"blackmailing" Arab states
are now in a position to make
"puppets out of all nations
dependent upon them for oil.
Today the "ministers" of the
"common market countries"
declared that "territory
should not be acquired by
force." Israel was the coun-
try attacked on Yom Kippur,
and as a result of those su-
perior war tactics gained
even more territory than
they had before the attack.
These "ministers" say that
this territory should now be
returned.
Suppose the Arab nations
had in their aggression con-
quered half of Israel? Would
these same "ministers" in-
sist that the Arabs return the
land they won by this aggres-
sion? Would the countries of
the common market repre-
sented by France, Great
Britain, and so forth respect
the rights of the natives of
the countries they conquered
in the past through their
colonialism?
Just • suppose that Israel
had the oil instead of the
Arabs. Surely these countries
instead of being great friends
of the Arabs would be great
friends of Israel. As far as
these pro-Arab oil dependent
countries are concerned, "the
one who has what I need is
the one I will support even
if he is wrong."
The Arab states now want
Japan (who imports 85 per
cent of its oil from the Arabs)
to break off diplomatic and
economic relations with Is-
rael and also grant some mil-
itary assistance to the Arab
states in exchange for the oil
taps to be reopened as be-
fore. Inasmuch as the oil de-
pendent countries are being
"blackmailed" in this man-
ner, what would prevent the
Arab states from demanding
the following in order to en-
sure continuance of oil ship-
ments?:
1. All countries having a
Jewish population must either
deport them, put them in con-
centration camps, or dispose
of them.
2. All countries must im-
p o r t Arabian products in

preference to "the same
products of other countries
regardless of price."
3. All products exported to
Arab countries must be
priced much less than the
same products being exported
to other countries.
4. All products exported to
Arab countries should not be
taxed.
5. If there are any people
holding office in any foreign
country that the Arabs do not
favor, that person or persons
should be promptly removed.
6. Arab nationals in all
countries must be given pref-
erential treatment over all
other nationals.
Of course, if you reflected
there could be many more
conditions than those listed
above and most probably will
be if this type of "blackmail"
is permitted to gain headway.
It is no longer a question
of whether the Arabs are
right or Israel is right. No
country because of the need
for those natural resources
should be permitted to use
this God-given resource as a
weapon for personal advan-
tage.
We know that all the oil
dependent countries are being
forced against their will in
many instances to adopt a
100 per cent pro-Arab atti-
tude. We also know that if
another source of oil supply
should suddenly open up that
the Arab countries would
have no friends, and that in-
cludes Russia because of
those strong-arm tactics. If
this is so, then all countries
should take a firm and united
stand against this terrible
threat to our civilization.

by Anti-Jewish
Hate Sheets

BUENOS AIRES (JTA) —
Dr. Nehemias Resnizky,
secretary of the DAIA,
charged that "tons of anti-
Jewish propaganda ten-
aciously attempting to identi-
fy Peronism with the Arab
cause" have been distributed
attempting to stir up tension
and hate in Argentina.
He said that Montoneros, a
Peronist group, has disown-
ed an anti-Jewish leaflet dis-
tributed in its name. In a
message to the Argentine
new media, Dr. Resnizky.
speaking for the DAIA, the
Buenos Aires Kehilla and the
Argentine Zionist Organiza-
tion, declared:
"We formulated through
the Dress a fervent call to
the Arab community in Ar-
gentina with which we al-
ways lived in harmony not
to let itself be dragged into
provocation."
In Caracas a call for
a continued climate of "com-
prehension" among mem-
bers of Venezuela's Arab and
Jewish communities was
made by President Rafael
Caldera in his weekly press
conference.
