LITTLE RICHARD'S
Interspersed in Esther's
wide repertoire, she thrills
all to a beautifully done "Be-
fore the Parade Passes By"
. . . and returns for an en-
core to do a sultry "Just
Say I Love You" and "Hays
Nagela" . Iler well en-
dowed body is fitted in a
gorgeous sequin Paris crea-
tion (one of the few she
didn't design herself) . .
Iler warmth is enjoyed as
she tell of Israel being the
only country in the world
that drafts women, and the
only way to escape the draft
is "by getting married or
having a baby-or both" ...
"I'm an expert in judo,"
said Esther, "but didn't use
it much in the army. How-
ever, when I moved to New
York, it sure came in
handy!" . . Born in Jeru-
salem, a third-generation
Sabra, she didn't know any
Yiddish until New York and
the Yiddish Theater . .
Esther has a lot of talent
which with a little luck can
easily wheel her into the
bright lights of top stardom
. . . Also on the bill is
Jackie Mason, ex-ordained
rabbi turned comedian, who
follows Esther Tobi saying,
"Thank God she didn't know
any more songs, and that I
lived long enough to come
out here!" . . . Ile does a
good job of bringing laugh-
ter, especially in spots where
his leanings are toward the
straight rather than stan-
dardized ethnic . . , Esther
and Jackie will conclude
their Michigan Palace en-
gagement tomorrow night.

BRING ON the tummy re
taxers - we ate the whole
thing at an eight-man pre-
view of the eighth annual
Esquire holiday feast at
Hotel Pontchartrain's La
Mediterannee Restaurant ...
one of 40 distinguished spots
in the U. S , Canada and
Europe offering the eight-
course dinner.
This year's gourmet feast.
dedicated to the late Cole
Porter
(although
Chuck
Muer's pianist threw in some
Rachmaninoff), is the exact
duplicate of the occasion if,
when the songwriter enter- ea
tained the Duke and Duchess
of Windsor at his Waldorf-
Astoria residence in 1947 ...
lavishly reflecting Porter's '-
unique philosophy' toward
fine food . . .
While he favored continen-
tal cuisine, he always in-
sisted on one American dish
whenever he entertained at
home . . . The unusual meal
began with a dish of natural
nuts and seeds, taken with
a glass of sherry .. Then
the soup course, a double-
strength hot tomato madri.
lene . . .
The fish course, always
Porter's favorite, was Le
Campanile de Crepes au
Fruits de Mer del Palazzo
Rezzonico, crepes filled with
sea foods tightened up with
mushrooms and onions (light
white burgundy wine was
served) . . .
The entree, Canard a Is
Marengo de Josephine was
boneless duckling breast, fol.
lowed by a sorbet of Canton
ginger, blended Into a lemon.
like sherbet (champagne)
. . . The roast was a Baron
of Indiana Lamb with truf.
fles, artichoke bottom s,
glazed carrots and mush-
room caps (red burgundy).
The salad, le Dome de la
Belle Geraldine, blanched
celery on a leaf of romaine
lettuce, garnished with egg
slices, garden beets and a
vinaigrette dressing .. , The
imported cheese course fol-
lowed (red bordeaux) and
then the dessert, Croquem-
bouche, a stack of cream-
filled tiny puffs (champagne)
. . , and demi tasse with
chocolate fudge pieces (Cor-
don Bleu cognac) from a
little candy store in Peru,
Ind., where Cole Porter got
his fudge . . .
The complete feast, not in.
eluding the eight wines
served during the courses,
is $19.50 per person . .. and
will be served to the public
on advance reservation,
