Yigal Alton, deputy prime minis-
ter of the state of Israel, will be
guest speaker at the Shaarey
Zedek "Sword of the Hagana"
dinner honoring Irwin Green, pres-
ident of United Jewish Charities,
May 9 at Cong. Sharrey Zedek.

Gen. Allon, who besides being
deputy prime minister, holds the
portfolio of minister of education
and culture, was commander-in-
chief of Palmah, the shock troop
division of the Israel Defense
Forces, which played a major role
in Israel's War of Independence.-
He entered public life in 1954,
when he was elected to the Knes-
set.
A sabra, Allon is one of the
founders of Kibutz Ginossar on
Lake Kinneret, which has been
his home since 1937- He is a grad-
uate at the Hebrew University
and the author of three books,
"The Story of the Palmah," "Cur-
tain of Sand" and "The Making of
Israel's Army."
