Rose Faync and Sonya Garfield
recently returned from the Sun Spa
looking great . . . Harry Brodsky
, ends a three-year term as presi-
dent of the Detroit Businessmen's
'Group City of Hope . .. Activity
for next year's shindig by DBG has
already been started—no waiting
around anymore until the last min-
ute—even the date has been set!
. . . Amazing how Iry Feldman
comes up with all those fantastic
creations . . . New offices of Sol
Lewis are on 12 Mile in Berkley
. . . Sam Wilson making his usual
business trek to Los Angeles said
hello for us to Larry and Lil Die-
tor . . . Sammy and Ann Woolf
vent to Florida to latch onto an
apartment . . . Last we heard.
Sally Eller was living someplace
•in Florida . . . Ira Rosenberg is a
real nice guy . . . Charley Manos
is a plain down to earth good fel-
low . . . Terry Schilling was to do
Zsa Zsa Gabor's hair morning after
her "appearance" here, but she
wanted to get out of town and to
New York . . . Zsa Zsa doesn't
like too many places or people
. . . and according to local news-
paper folks, they don't like her
either . . . Harvey and Elsie
Greene celebrated their 50th wed-
ding anniversary last week . . .
Client recently paid hypnotist Hy
Lewis $2.3 to cure him of an in-
feriority complex ... On the week-
end, the guy was fined $50 for
talking back to a cop!
SORRY TO HEAR OF the pass-
ing of orchestra leader Eddie Webb
. . . Was around town a long time
and ended his days at the Royal
Ascot in Lincoln Park.
THAT BONELESS CHICKEN at
Mr. Rib carry-out and delivery
is out of this world . . . Under the
management of Mel West, the old
Adam's Rib, certainly has changed
. . . even the ribs. pizzas and other
types of chicken too . . . And Mel
has a lunch sandwich menu now
for folks in the area.
WHEN IT COMES to delicates-
sen food, Detroit takes a back seat
to no other city in the country .. .
Many can claim , some good deli-
catessen, but none boast of so
many.
BOB ALLISON, host of WWJ
radio's "Ask Your Neighbor," was
at one time a popular piano nitery
act around town.
THAT NEW Salami Keeper being
sold by Sy Ginsberg and Dave
Perlin at Mr. Deli on W. Seven
Mile'is a novel gift item . . . and
really does the necessary duty
while modernizing a tradition . .
Instead of the salami hanging in
mid-air so to speak, the air-holed
keeper is a chrome or gold stand
that makes for decoration and when
lifted, reveals the salami.
ANOTHER WAITRESS with that
all-important smile is Anna (An-
astasia) Kotelka in the ground
level Paris Cafe restaurant at
Ford Hospital . . . She's a tremen-
dous asset with her pleasant ways
that make for continuing custom-
er comfort . . . Anna isn't just a
plain waitress, by the way • . .
15 years here from Ukraine, she
also has been a pretty good short
order cook at spots around town.
ROYALTY HOUSE ON the east
side has plans for a northwest
locale according to rumors . . .
Other nationwide catering biggies
also have ideas for the lucrative
area.
WANT A SUN TAN all year
long without going south • . . Kay
Lansky used to do It . • . Just
take a box long enough for you
to lie in . . . Line it with tin foil
and let the outside rays bounce
about.
GOT ANY UNUSED clothing?
. . . Quite a few Jewish families
can certainly use it .. . How
about some organizations getting
together and having a big drive
to get canned goods and fresh
foods for needy Jewish people .. .

clothing too.

SAM DRYMAN hardly ever
wears the same tie twice . . . Ben
Perlove has come up through the
ranks and will be the new Chan-
cellor Commander of Detroit Lodge
Knights of Pythias . . . Sam Glass
may be quiet but a very strong
thjnker . . . Tom Heller is closing
his eight tax offices on Jan. 2
to use as collection points for food,
canned goods, etc. to be taken to
Mother Waldles' kitchen .. . for
needy families . . . The stores are
called Parker Bros, Tax Service
. . . Fellow got into Eli Springer's
cab and said to just take the ex-
pressway for a ride . . . When
they got back, fellow refused to
pay on the grounds that Eli took
the wrong expressway . . . he
paid!

Pianist at Salamandre

Pianist Barbara Chapin will ap-
pear 8 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Mon-
day at the Salamandre Bar in the
Hotel Pontchartrain. She will play
mainly show tunes, a little classic'
and very little jazz. Her profes-
sional club experience has cen-
tered in Chicago, Los Angeles and
Honolulu.
