Do re Illustrations
in Dover Volume

Gustave Dore's name is insep-
arably linked with the Bible. As
illustrator of the Bible he has
gained fame and his work has
served to provide added interest
in scriptural writings among many
faiths.
A spirit akin to Dore's skill
in biblical art is to be found
in 1180 of his illustrations in "Lon-
don — a Pilgrimage." Collaborator
in this _work was the noted au-
thor and journalist, Blanchard
Jerrold.
"London — a Pilgrimage" has
been published by Dover. An in-
troduction by Millicent Rose adds
invaluably toward an apprecia-
tion of the Dore-Jerrold work.
Dover Publications also has
issued another impresive art book
containing Dore's illustrations —
"The Rime of the Ancient Mari-
ner" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
Here, too, the Bible influence be-
comes apparent in Dore's pictures.
