As in many other fields, we had
to use imagination in Israel. We
have devised "chopped liver" made
out of eggplants. The reason was
simple: We didn't have too- many
livers, but eggplants we had in
abundance.

As you probably know, chopped
chicken liver is a classic Jewish
favorite. It is no problem to pre-
pare when you have the livers
available, but it takes some imag-
ination to produce the same taste
using substitutes.

I Israeli Ambassador Yitzhak Ra.
I bin said at the opening session
of the convention that "For the
time being, it does not look like
the Arabs will take the risk of
another war. Rather the Arabs will
continue their war of attrition.
Peace however will be achieved
within the next fre to 10 years."
Gen. Rabin said, "I don't be-
lieve that in the second half of
the 20th century dictatorships
that lie to their people can be
sustained. President Nasser (of
Egypt) will not be able to over-
come the revolt of the young
people who are not now allowed
to talk, much less declare a day
of 'moratorium."'

Elegance and high fashion in women's apparel.

In citing the three previous
Arab-Israeli conflicts in which
each Israeli victory was "stronger"
than 'the previous one, he said,
"if they ask for the fourth war,
we are going to follow in the
same way." As long as Israel has
one supersonic plane for every
three Arab planes, we feel safe,"
he said.

WASHINGTON {JTA)—Pioneer

1. Peel the eggplants. Slice into
slices. Fry on both sides in a big pan
with one-inch deep oil in it. The
slices should be brown on both sides.
You will find that the eggplant ab-
sorbs some oil, so you will have to
to add oil when frying the second
batch. If you wish. you may put the
fried eggplant slices on paper towels
to remove some of the oil from them
2. Chop the onion and fry in the oil
until golden bross n.
3. Put through a food chopper the fried
eggplants, three hard-boiled eggs and
the fried onions. (You could chop
them with a knife on a wooden
board, or in your electric blender).
Add salt and pepper to taste.
4. Arrange on a platter and garnish
with slices of tomato, two eggs. and
parsley and olives. You can serve
eight as a first course at dinner.
