Ad a s Shalom Fashion Show Afoot

donor luncheon-fashion show planned by Adas Shalom Sisterhood

The Sisterhood of Adas Shalom
Synagogue will bridge the fashion
generation gap at its annual honor
luncheon and fashion festival noon
Oct. 29 at the synagogue.
Mrs. Carl B. Lichtenstein, presi-
dent. said this event is for the
young in heart, the young in mind
and the young in spirit. Donor co-
ordinators Mrs. Herman Canner
and Mrs. Bernard Soble have ar-
ranged music, prizes and favors
to enhance the program.
Mrs. David J. Miller, vice presi-
dent of ways and means, is chair-
man of the sisterhoods only fund-
raising project. Participating with
her arm Mesdames Alex Barth,
liaison( Young 'N' Marrieds;
George Fleischer, sponsor chair-
man; Abe Cherrin and Ira G. Kauf-
man, ticket co-chairmen; Harry
Portner, publicity; Morris N. Pos-
ner, donor treasurer; Theodore
Thomas, memoriams; Baruch Ul-
rych, luncheon chairman, and Wil-
lia m Zimmerman, scholarship
chairman.

winning documentary film pro-
ducer and chairman of Brandeis
University's Theater Arts Film
Workshop depart-

of Brandeis Uni-
versity National
Women's Com-
mittee 1 p.m. Oct.
at the Studio 6

Hardy
He comes to
the Detroit Chapter" "From Be-
hind the Iron Curtain," where he
spent the summer attending film
seminars in both Czechoslovakia
and Poland.
A member of the Brandeis fac-
utly since 1967, Hardy produced
"India-Writings in the Sand,"
which won both the Overseas Press
Club and Prix de Rome Awards in
1966.
Mrs. Aubrey Goldman, chapter
president. invites the public to
hear Hardy, who will be presented
to the guests at a coffee hour fol-
lowing the program.
Mrs. Phillip Mareuse is program
chairman. Mrs. Lawrence Weiner,

by Mrs. Stuart Mittenthal and Mrs.
Ivan Scholnick.
Brady has been producer, direc-
tor, commentator, reporter and
.writer for all major networks; he
has an established reputation both
as radio director and correspond-
ent; and he has made major con-
tributions to Time, Life, Look, and
the Saturday Review of Literature.
Brady has lectured coast to coast
on an urban renewal film that he
produced at the request of the
American Council to Improve Our
I Neighborhoods.
A captain in Britain's Royal Ma-
rine Commandos during World
War II, Hardy saw services behind
the lines in Europe and the Far
East and has subsequently report-
ed and filmed wars and political
events around the world.

He was born in Northern Ireland,
educated at Trinity College, Dub-
lin, and came to the United States
in 1950.
He was recently elected presi-
dent of the University Film Study
Center,. which includes members
from Brandeis, Boston University,
Yale, Harvard, MIT and Smith
College.
