This Rosh Hashana program is a
part of the year-round service to
Jewish nursing home residents
which is provided by volunteers
under the supervision of JFCS. The
Nursing Home Volunteer Project
is under the chairmanship of Rabbi
Leonard Cahan.

Faye Kassel became the bride of
Marc Joel Maxman Friday at Tem-
ple Emanu-El in San Francisco.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Kassel of Los

parents are Mr. and Mrs. Sydney
Maxman of Basil Ave. The newly-
weds will reside in San Francisco.

On Rosh Hashana, it is cus-
tomary to dip apples in honey as
a good omen for a happy and
sweet year. We suggest that you
combine those two elements to pro-
duce a good strudel. You can serve
it as a last course to a festive
meal, or as a snack. The recipe is
for two medium size strudels.

The bride wore a gown of ecru
rose pointe Chantilly lace. She car-
ried baby orchids on her confirma-
tion Bible.
Mrs. Robert Simons served her
sister as matron of honor, and
maid of honor was Barbara Chu-
pack. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Alan Munitz, Elaine Metier,
Marlene Rosen and Barbara Gor-

2 , 2 cups flour
1 cup margarine
tsp. salt
any cup water
The Filling
4 tart apples (medium slzel
2 Tbls. honey
2 Tbls. sugar
3 Tbls. bread crumbs
2 Tbls. oil
‘2 cup raisins
‘ .2 cup slivered almonds
1 tsp. cinnamon
1. Prepare the dough: melt the mar-
garine and combine with the flour
and salt. Add water and knead
lightly. Let it rest in refrigerator
until you prepare the filling.
2. Prepare the filling: peel the apples
and grate them on a coarse grater.
Add all the other ingredients and
mix well.
3. Divide the dough into two. Roll
out two rectangles of about 10x15
inches.
4. Put half of filling on each, cover-
ing about one-third of the dough
—lengthwise. Roll up, lengthwise.

moon in Montreal, the couple will

fall session Monday in the club-
room of the synagogue.
The group meets 1-1:30 p.m. Mon-
day, Wednesday and Friday.
In addition to the usual nursery
