very fine dining spot have created

much attention among folks who
enjoy good food . . . Those who
want something special ask for
maitre d' Mike Curcione to prepare
a salad at their table . . . It's his
own recipe—garlic dressing, Dan-
ish roquefort cheese, etc.—and is
extraordinarily delicious . . . Mike
is owner Kees Roosen's right hand
man and is running Mario's of
Windsor until Kees returns March
9 from Holland . . . But he always
finds time to give you personal
attention . . . Take a tip—ask for
Mike and forget about looking at
the menu—leave it all up to him!
. . . Mario's of Windsor is also
famous for it prime ribs of beef,
and the chateaubriand is probably
the finest anywhere . . . Oh, yes,
Mike knows his wines, too, so if
you feel like it with your meal,
you've got a top-notcher making
the selection!
EWE'S DELICATESSEN on W.
Seven Mile Rd., gives you a corned
beef sandwich with plenty of meat
. . . Its good to see a delicatessen
getting back to the old days of
real honest-to-goodness sandwiches
and not two slices of bread with a
few pieces of meat in between .. .
Evie's is where Leon and Lefkof-
sky was located, just east of Schae-
fer.
RUIKO, KEIKO, SHOKO, TOMI-
KO and EIKO—put them together
and you have the Hakamori Sis-
ters, better known in show busi-
ness as the high-powered Tokyo
Happy Coats . . . The Columbia
recording artists return to The
Moon-for a three-week engagement
beginning this Monday . .. The
quintet, whose name is taken from
the traditional Japanese festival
garment, sing and play a wide
variety of musical instruments .
Their repertoire includes rock, mod-
ern, rhythm and blues, jazz and
even Latin-American music . . .
The new gourmet menu at the
Moon is being introduced, with 17
dinners ranging from $4 to $7.
THE BIG ULTRA GREAT smor-
gasbord table will soon be a real-
ity at Vannelli's on Woodward .. .
It'll be one of the most elaborate
buffets ever seen in Detroit . . .
strictly a gourmet set-up for peo-
ple with discriminating taste . . .
The table will have a most unique
round-up of authentic Italian appe-
tizers imported from Italy and
Portugal . . . including artichokes,
whole eggplants in oil (pickled and
stuffed) miniature pickled whole
corn (are they delicious!), etc. . . .
The Julio Shane Trio opened last
Monday night . . . and the new
Candlelight Lounge will be opened
soon at Vannelli's in a soft roman-
tic setting, with each table having
a coachlight candy of its own.
