WHEN LEAVING A tip in a res-
taurant or night club. always bear
in mind that in most cases. the
waiter or waitress depends on these
more so than the salary received.
We don't mean to go overboard
— just be fair . . . 15 per cent is
the norm, but 20 per cent is not
out of line if the service is excep-
tionally, good.

LEGITIMATE BEEF comes
from musicians round town who
offer complaint that they can't give
their best in most of the commu-
nity's synagogues and halls . . .
"Its a wonder we can even play
anything," bemoans one rhythmist,
"the way those pianos are so out
of tune!"

FAVORITE LINE by comedian
Danny Martin is of the fellow who
is so conceited that every time he
hears a clap of thunder, he goes
to the window and takes a bow...
Hey, Danny! Where are you ap-
pearing now?
* *
IT HAPPENED AT a recent
home game at Tiger Stadium . .
"I beg your pardon," said the fat
man, returning of his seat with a
couple of grilled hot dogs, "did I
step on your foot when I went
out?". . . "You sure did!" an-
swered Sam Goodman, bossman at
the Hotel St. Regis, somewhat ex-
pecting an apology . "This is
-my row ; then," mumbled the fat
man as he squeezed by.
