LAST FOUR WEEKS TO SEE
CHICO HOLIDAY iK

WHY DETROITERS PREFER
TO DINE IN CANADA
AT MARIO'S OF WINDSOR

O

WHILE MAKING FRENCH fries,
Debbie Felsenfeld, home for the
weekend from Eastern University,
left the kitchen .to answer the
phone in another room . . . The
grease splattered up into the cup-
boards and ceiling, causing exten-
sive fire damage that brought the
Oak Park Fire Dept. out to squelch
the flames . . . However, consider-
able harm was done throughout
the entire household ... To make
matters even worse, shortly before
the fire, Debbie had smashed up
her dad's car . . . Morris is now
considering sending her to the Uni-
versity of Alaska, where the possi-
bilities of weekend visits are very
remote!
*
BARBARA GINSBURG, re-elect-
ed president of Infants Service
Group, and HaMe Serling wore the
same dress to the recent ISG Bowl-
ing banquet, reminding Evelyn
Rochlen of 15 years ago when she
attended an affair at the Hotel
Statler . . . Introduced to a girl
who wore the exact same dress,
Evelyn almost had a notion but
decided against going all the way
home to the Northwest side and
changing clothes . .. As it turned
out, she stayed, enjoyed the eve-
ning to its fullest and got to know
the other girl better . . . Today,
Evelyn and Norma Hellman are
inseparable girl friends.

HERMAN VICTOR AND Har-
old Samuels, on the school board
ticket in Southfield, are both
charter members and directors
of the Upper Teens ... an organ-
ization which devotes its time
and energy to raising money for
needy youngsters who can't oth-
erwise go to college . . . Herman
and Harold are assisted quite
handily by their respective wives,
Carolyn and Adele, in the rais-
ing of funds for Upper Teens.
• *
GRADE SCHOOL teacher Lillian
Marcus, records every question
asked her by the students . . . with
hopes of one day putting them into
book form . . . Last week, one of
the youthful students inquired,
"What did I learn in school today?
My daddy always wants to know."

20 YEARS AGO, Ernie Iczkovitz
met Ann Kline at a Holiday Hop
dance at the old Jewish Center on
Woodward . . . he was with sister
Betty, and Ernie, who had always
laughed at "Love at first sight,"
fell hard as a rock right on the
spot . . . and made sure that no
longer than a couple of months
went by before they were man and
wife . . . Betty is married to Harry
Slotnick and living in Toledo . . .
Ernie has just 31/2 years before
being up for retirement with the
Internal Revenue Service . . . He
started with them in 1945, after re-
turning from service.

JUST ARRIVED AND on George
Klein's office wall is a big 9'2"
mounted sailfish he caught this
year in Acapulco Bay ... George
landed the 117 lb : fighter after a
40-minute battle while wife Helen
took movies of George knocking
himself out . • If the fish had
held out just a little while longer,
George would have thrown in the
towel ... He was already saying,
"I can't hold him anymore — I
don't want the d fish!"
