Dr. Schrut Views
Suicide Patterns
Dr. Albert Schrut of Los Angeles,
former Detroiter, now clinical pro-
, fessor of Psychiatry at the Univer-
sity of Southern California School
of Medicine, stated in announcing
a study on suicides that most ado-
: lescent girls who try to kill them-
selves do so because they feel
rejected.
Dr. Schrut said that approxi-
mately half of the girls, whose
conditions were studied by the Los
Angeles Suicide Prevention Center,
attempted suicide after feeling re-
jected by parents because of alleged
failure to fulfill expectations. Re-
jection by boy-friends accounted
for suicide attempts by a third of
the girls under study.
Dr. Schrut is the son-in-law of
Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Neiman of
