With JNF Gift
A distinguished Detroiter whose
labors for many years have been
in the background but whose gen-
erosity is known in many quar-
ters will be feted by his family
this Sunday at a reception mark-
ing his 70th birthday.
Samuel Kobaker, of 25613
Greenfield, Southfield, announced
this week that he's supplementing
many previous gifts to the Jew-
ish National Fund with a conribu-
tion of $5,000 in honor of his birth-
day.

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Friedlander of New York City,
became the bride of James Frank-
lin. Grossman May 1. The bride-
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Alan J. Grossman of Fairfield Ave.
The wedding and reception
were held at the home of the
bridegroom's uncle and aunt,
Judge and Mrs. Theodore Levin.
The wedding was originally
planned for New York City, but
due to the illness of Mrs. Alan
Grossman, the wedding was trans-
ferred to Detroit to enable her to
attend.
The bride chose an eyelet Em-
pire floor-length gown, over a
champagne colored A-line sheath.
Her shoulder-length silk illusion
veil was secured by a silk halo.
Her bouquet was of white roses
and lilies of the valley.
Mary Jane Grossman, sister
of the bridegroom, was maid of
honor, and Mrs. Thomas J.
Grossman was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Elissa Zol-
kower and Ruth Shenfeld of
Chippaqua, N.Y.
Alan J. Grossman Jr. was his
brother's best man. Ushers were
Thomas J. Grossman, brother of
the bridegroom, Robert D. Fried-
lander, brother of the bride,
William A. Sable and Clifford B.
Franzel.
represented in Israel. In honor of
his parents, a synagogue has been
set up in a settlement in Israel.
In memory of his sister Jeanette
a room was dedicated in the Ha-
dassah Hebrew University Medical
Center. His brother David's mem-
ory is honored with several proj-
ects in Israel, including the plant-
ing of a JNF Forest.
Dora Kobaker, the celebrant's
wife, As active in several move-
ments and is an officer in the
JNF Women's Auxiliary.
The Kobakers have two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Edward (Marcia) Kersh
and Mrs. Sheldon (Florence) Dul-
berk and six grandchildren.

Concert Sunday
Weitzmann Institute and close
friend of the late Dr. Weizmann,
received an honorary fellowship of
the institute on his recent visit to
Israel. Levine made valuable con-
tributions for the development of
applied science at the institute.

The Don Frohman Chorus will
present its 41st annual concert at
the Community Arts Auditorium,
Wayne State University, 8:30 p.m.
Sunday.
The guest artist, Judith Berman,
violinist, assistant concertmaster of
the Dallas Symphony Orchestra,
will present a program of works by
Mendelssohn, Paganini, Debussy
and Brahm-Joachim with Detroit's
concert pianist, Rebecca Frohman.
The famed chorus of 90 voices
will present three major works:
"Sisi Admat Hashoron", a modern
Palestinian by Nardi, "Dos Naie
Lid", a portion of Director Don
Frohman's Oratorio, and Franz
Liszt's great symphonic peom for
chorus, "Les Preludes". Other
works are by Helfman, Wilenski,
Dragmirov, Heifetz, Grenchaninoff,
Weiner, Enders, and Dvorak.
Tickets will be available Sunday
evening at the box office.
