Brides Repeat Marriage Vows Under Cano

Jane Sharon Cohen became the
bride of Richard Earl Miller in a
ceremony at the Sheraton-Cadillac
Hotel Sunday, with Rabbi Leonard
Cahan officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Cohen of Wiscon-
sin Ave., and Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Miller of Woodingham Dr.
The bride wore an A-line, Em-
pire gown of peau de soie and lace,
with a detachable chap-el train. A
crown of lace and pearls held her
shoulder-length veil, and she held
a Bible with orchids and Stephan-
otis.
Mrs. Susan Levitin, sister of
the bride, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Marianne
Levin, Mrs. Kaye Miller, Mrs.
Sharon Newman and Mrs. Dinah
Fishman.

In a candlelight ceremony
Wednesday, Harlynn Mae Izner be-
came the bride of Richard Lee
Serwin at the Crystal Ballroom of
the Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel. Rabbi
Leon Fram officiated.
Parents of the couple are Dr.
and Mrs. Sanford Myron Izner of
W. Outer Dr. and Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Serwin of Briar Dr., Oak
Park.
The bride wore a gardenia silk-
satin sleeveless Empire sheath,
covered by a long-sleeved over-
dress of rosepointe lace, styled
with front panel detail and chapel-
length train. A shoulder-length il-
litsion veil appliqued with match-
ing lace flowed from a crownless
silk cap. The bride carried a con-
tinental bouquet of gardenias.
Maid of honor was the sister
of the bride, Lauren Maxine
Izner. Bridesmaids were Sara-
jane Serwin, sister of the bride-
groom, Maryann Dunitz, Victoria
Lasser and Mrs. Bruce Serwin.
Best man was Bruce Serwin of
Ann Arbor, brother of the bride-
groom. Donald S. Beser, Michael
Nosanchuk, David J. Olen, Michael
D. Surowitz and Barry N. Tilds
served as ushers.
After a honeymoon in Chicago,
the couple will reside in Ann
Arbor.

Alicia Karen Cohen became the
bride of Jerry Arnold Aronoff Mon-
day in a ceremony at Raleigh
House, with Rabbi M. Robert Syme
officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Michael Cohen of Kip-
ling, Oak Park, and Mr. and Mrs.
Nathan Aronoff of Cherrylawn
Ave. _
The bride wore a peau de soie
Empire gown with hand-covered
Alencon lace bordering the floor-
length sheath, with a detachable
chapel train. She carried a Bible
covered with orchids and lilies of
the valley.
Nancy Schlussel served as maid
of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Marvin Gurecki, Mrs. Errol Sweet,
Airs. Larry Aronoff, Nancy Victor,
Dana Fatelman and Cynthia Carp-
man. Shelley Cohen, sister of the
bride, and Penny Sue Sweet were
junior bridesmaids.
Brother of the bridegroom,
Larry Aronoff, was best man. Ush-
ers were Mervin Aronoff, brother
of the bridegroom, Alan Cohen,
brother of the bride, Errol Sweet,
Robert Niskar, Norman Lynn and
Sidney Feldman.
Jacquelyn Aronoff was flower
girl.
After honeymooning in Miami
Beach, the couple plans to reside
on Steel Ave.

Marjorie Sue Lappin became
the bride of Robert Edward Mellen
in a recent candlelight ceremony
at Temple Israel. Rabbis Leon
Fram and M. Robert Syme and
Cantor Harold Orbach officiated.

Stanton Miller, brother of the
bridegroom, served as best man.
Ushers were Jerome Miller,
brother of the bridegroom, James
Cohen, brother of the bride, Nor-
man Levitin, Marvin Fishman and
Barry Ostrow.
After a honeymoon in New York
and Jamaica, the couple will re-
side in Ann Arbor.

Silberman- Pavilion
Saul Silberman, president of
Tropical Park Race Track in
Miami, Fla., has been honored by
that city's Cedars of Lebanon HOs-
pital for his work in its develop-
ment. A bronze bas relief plaque
-of Silberman has been installed in
the reception area. One floor of
the hospital is known as the
"Silberman Pavilion."

Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel E. Lappin of
Ivanhoe Rd., Huntington Woods,
and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Mellen
of Avon Ave., Oak Park.
The bride wore a brocade gown
fashioned with a controlled skirt
and detachable chapel train. A re-
movable jacket styled with a
bateau neckline covered the fitted
bodice. A bouffant veil of im-
ported French silk illusion was se-
cured by a small, three-tiered open
pillbox.
Carol Lappin, the bride's sis-
ter, was her maid of honor. Mrs.
Judith Bolitho of Indianapolis,
Marianne Katcher and Julie
Magidsohn were bridesmaids.
Lisa Mellen was flower girl.
Paul Grant was best man. Rob-
ert Aptekar, Gerald Leggett and
Roger Stewart were ushers, and
Alan Lappin, brother of the bride,
was junior usher.
Following a trip to the Virgin
Islands, the couple will reside in
Royal Oak.

*18,000 New Yorkers See
2nd Hanukah Festival

NEW YORK (JTA)—More than
18,000 persons attended Monday
the Hanukah Festival for Israel

Bonds — the second in two weeks
— in Madison Square Garden. Ad-
mission to the festival was free
to those who purchased Israel
Bonds. The third and final festival
will be conducted by the Israel
Bond Organization on Jan. 3.
The festivals, which feature
prominent American and Israeli
artists in a program of music,
dance and drama, mark the cul-
mination of the 1965 drive in
Greater New York to raise $20,.
000,000 for the economic develop-
ment of Israel through the sale of
Israel Bonds. Its total attendance
for the three performances is ex-
pected to exceed 55,000.

New Commonwealth Rate
Bank of the Commonwealth te-
day became the first Detroit fi-
nancial institution to increase in-
terest paid on time deposits to 41/2
per cent. This new higher guaran-
teed bank rate will be paid on one
year saving certificates of deposit.
George W. Miller, president of
Commonwealth, said the effective
date for the new "time" saving de-
posits will be Dec. 16.
