NEW YORK, (JTA) — Gifts

leaders at a dinner given by the
United Hias Service in behalf
of the 25th anniversary year
campaign of the UJA of Greater
New York.
Murray I. Gurfein, president
of United Hias, in addressing
the dinner, declared: "In 1962
our agency was one of those
called into action by a Jewish
migration explosion which drove
more than 200,000 Jews from
their homelands in a frightened
search for survival in the free
world. There are still an esti-
mated 3,000,000 Jews in East-
ern Europe, North

are poten-
tial migrants. If given the op-
portunity we know that many

is great progress in the land
and said "these are the seven
good years and we face seven
better years."
His optimistic report em-
braced many areas of Israeli
activities. He said that while
more and more immigrants are
arriving, there still is over-
employment and there is a
shortage of manpower.
Almogi spoke of the growing
exports, of the manner in which
Israel is replacing Belgium as
a diamond center, and the ex-
pansion of the citrus and fash-
ion industries.
He said there is an effective
.integration program and "in a
few years there won't be any
difference between Yemenite,
Moroccan and American" in
Israel.
Almogi spoke of Nasser's at-
tempt to form an Arab federa-
tion and said it is failing be-
cause it is an "Anschluss." He
