Yaacov Tsur Praises Scholastic
Activities of Greenberg School

When Yaacov Tsur, world president of the Keren Kaye-
meth (Jewish National Fund) and former Israel AmbasSador to
Israel, was in Detroit earlier this month, he visited the
classes of the Hayim Greenberg Hebrew-Yiddish School. He
was deeply impressed with the students' interest in their
studies. In the above photo, he is shown questioning students
in the class of Mrs. Leah Schrodeck (left). The answers he
was given about Passover, the Seder ceremonies and other
questions about Jewish history and religious observances indi-
cated to him, he told M. Goldoftas, director of the school
(right in the -photo), that notable progress is being made in
the instructions being given the children • there. Tsur and
Goldoftas had worked together in behalf of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund and other 'Zionist activities while both were in
Belgium, prior to the advent of HitleriSm.

A KLM-Royal Dutch Airlines
plane returned more than 200
miles to New York's Idlewild
Airport Sunday when a Detroit
passenger, Abraham Ehrenfeld,
68, of 17409 Birwood, suffered
a heart attack.
The chartered craft, bound for
Amsterdam, was carrying 81 pas
sengers en route to Israel on a
Mizrachi-sponsored tour for Pass-
over. It was in flight about an
hour when Ehrenfeld was
stricken. He was given emergency
treatment aboard the plane.
The pilot jettisoned 5,000- gal-
lons of fuel to make the aircraft
lighter for a faster run to Idle-
wild. Ehrenfeld was rushed to
Manhattan General Hospital
where his condition was listed as
critical.
The plane took off again
shortly after its mercy stop. Other
Detroiters were aboard, including
Sam Stollman.
Ehrenfeld is the brother of
the Matastofer Rebbe who has
settled in Israel with his fol-
lowers and is pursuing a long-
range program of study and is
sponsoring a school and homes
construction project.
