Arthritis Quackery Bared
In Public Affairs Booklet
The cruel swindle of Amer-
ica's arthritis sufferers is the
subject of a new booklet, "The
Arthritis Hoax—$250,000,000 in
Fr au d s and Fallacies," now
available from the Michigan
Chapter of the Arthritis and
Rheumatism Foundation (ARF).
Duncan M. Laidlaw, executive
director of the chapter, said the
booklet is based on a recent re-
port compiled by the ARF. This
voluntary health agency cites
the nation's 11,000,000 arthritis
victims as "the most exploited
group in the health field today."

Allan, his co-chairmen, report
that 13 Detroit congregations
already have confirmed their
participation in this year's ap-
peal.
These include- Adas Shalom,
Ahavas Achim, Beth Abraham,
Beth Moses, Beth Tefilah Eman-
uel, Beth Yehudah, Ezras Achim,
Mishkan Israel, Nusach Harie,
Young Israel - Dexter, Israel-
Greenfield, Young Israel-North-
west and Young Israel of Oak
Woods.
Stimulated by the scheduled
Sept. 11 Pre High Holy Day
rally with Israel's Air Force

Chief Chaplain Sl_aar Yashuv
Cohen, the Detroit congregations
are accelerating their prepara-
tions and plans for their ap-
peals, according to Stollman.
