French Zionist Leader
Says 'Attacks Political'

PARIS, (JTA)—Labor Zionist
attacks against him are "just a
pretext," Andre Blumel, presi-
dent of the French Zionist Fed-
eration, told the Jewish Tele-
graphic Agency here.
He is being attacked for hav-
ing attended a Communist-spon-
sored public celebration of the
centenary of the birth of Sho-
lem Aleichem, and not attend-
ing a similar celebration held
by Zionist groups.
The Labor Zionist attacks, he
stated, are "purely political."
Blummel implied that they are
motivated by a Labor Zionist
desire to take over the Federa-
tion presidency.
"If the Federation adopts any
kind of censure motion against
me now," he stated, "I will, of
course, resign." The Labor Zion-
ist complaint against Blumel
was debated at a meeting of the
Federation on Wednesday.

Nasserism Will Win Africa, Diggs Sr. Says

"Outside of fighting the Jews,
African nations think like Nas-
ser," on pan-Arabic and pan-
African unification, said Charles
C. Diggs Sr., at a press confer-
ence on his return from a three-
month tour of Africa..
Diggs, a former State Senator,
visited Liberia, French Africa,
Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Inde-
pendent East Africa, Independ-
ent West Africa, British West
Africa, Kenya and Egypt. He
did not visit Israel, though he
had planned to, because Egypt
would not issue a passport to
Israel and Diggs did not have
time for the necessary detour
to circumvent the prohibition.
A United States of Africa is
inevitable, Diggs feels. He dis-
counted the severity of the ten-

sions among the various African
countries that would be party
to such a merger, with Nasser
as its probable head.
He said that Ghanaians speak
very highly of the technical and
educational cooperation of that
country and Israel. He said that
the success of the venture is
discussed across Africa, even in
Cairo.
Diggs is seeking to encourage
American investors to take an
interest in the opportunities for
the development of Africa. He
is planning an office of his in-
surance business in Ethiopia.
