Histadrut Reaches
Third of Goal; Report
Agron to Speak Here

As the Detroit Israel Hista-
drut Campaign reached the one-
third mark this week, plans
were being made for a number
of events of community-wide
interest, according to Morris
Lieberman, chairman.
A public meeting will be held
within a few weeks in honor
of Gershon Agron, Mayor of
Jerusalem. The date of his visit
to Detroit is not yet set, but
it will be a major program in
the campaign.
Meanwhile, the Scrap Metal
Division will have its formal
kickoff event for the campaign
on Feb. 8, when a reception
and cocktail party will be given
in honor of Meir Padan, Is-
raeli Vice Consul in New York.
Special acclaim was accorded
by the Histadrut cabinet this
week for the efforts of Ben-
jamin Laikin of Arlazaroff
Branch of the Farband. Lead-
ing the list of campaigners is
Harry Schumer, also of Arla-
zaroff Branch.
Recognition also was given
to Morris Baker,, of Arlazaroff
Branch, and Israel Burnstein,
of the Brisker Mlawer Society.
