Beth Israel Community Cen-
ter of Ann Arbor will present
a series of three speakers dur-
ing November. Prof. Ellis Riv-
kin, of Hebrew Union College,
will speak at 8:15 p.m., Nov. 9,
Donald Slaiman of Detroit's
Jewish Labor Committee will
speak following Sabbath serv-
ices on Nov. 14 and actor-
monologist Jon Silo will appear
at a program of music and
drama on Nov. 22.
Professor Rivkin's talk is the
first of two lectures in the
Thomas Cook series. All events
are open to the community.
Registration is still open.

JWF Women to Hear!
Talks by Avrunin,
Marcus, Mrs. Karbel

The Women's Division of the
Jewish Welfare Federation will
hold the fourth and last session
of its Leadership Training
Course at 9:50 a.m., Monday, at
the Ten Mile Branch of the
Jewish Community Center.
William Avrunin, associate
director of Federation, Sam
Marcus, director of Fresh Air
Society and Mrs. Sidney J. Kar-
bel, president of the Federation
Women's Division, will high-
light the program, announced
Mrs. Lewis S. Grossman, insti-
tute chairman.
Avrunin will speak on the
"Future of Federation" — how
Federation will provide for our
growing Jewish community.
Marcus will show slides taken
at Camp Tamarack and cover-
ing the many different age
groups, from pre-school to gold-
en age, using the camp facili-
ties.
Mrs. Karbel will describe the
work of the Federation 12,000
member Women's Division.
Luncheon will be served and
a tour of the Ten Mile Center
will follow.

Hiss Coggan to Wed
Dr. Joel R. Barkoff

MISS CAROLSUE COGGAN

Dr. and Mrs. Robert A. Cog-
gan, of Roslyn Rd., announce
the engagement of their daugh-
ter, Carolsue, to Dr. Joel R.
Barkoff, son of Mrs. Dennis
Barkoff, of Whitmore Rd., and
the late Dr." Barkoff.
Miss Coggan is a graduate of
Stephens College, Columbia,
Mo., and presently is a student
at the University of Cincinnati.
She is affiliated with Phi Theta
Kappa, national scholastic
society.
Dr. Barkoff is a graduate of
the University of Toronto and
the Wayne State University col-
lege of medicine. He is a mem-
ber of Pi Lampda Phi and Phi
Delta Epsilon fgaternities.
The wedding will be solemn-
ized in January at Temple Is-
rael.

GAN POST and AUXILIARY
have scheduled a joint square
dance at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, in
the Memorial Home. Members
are asked to wear Hallowe'en
costumes. Games and refresh-
ments also are planned. Accord-
ing to Loraine Wilner, chair-
man, the event is free to paid-
up members.

YETZ-COHEN AUXILIARY
will meet Monday evening, in
the Memorial Home, when mem-
bers are urged to bring canned
foods for a needy veteran's fam-
ily. Hostesses will be Rose Fein-

AUXILIARY recently entertain-
ed 70 teen-age girls at the Juve-
nile Detention Home. In addi-
tion to refreshments, the girls
watched a dance exhibition and
heard a talk on charm. The
party was planned by the child
welfare committee, under the
chairmanship of Mrs. Lillian
Berger. Participating were Mrs.
Milton Rose, president, and
Mesdames Bernard Schwartz,
Toby Broder, Belle Yoffee and
Ellen Bromberg.

Judge Kaufman Heads
Stone Foundation
Hallowe'en Party

Judge Nathan Kaufman will
again head the Louis Stone
Foundation in sponsoring its
traditional Halloween party for
underprivileged children six to
14 years old, at the Louis Stone
'Playground, 4595 Fourth, 6-8:30
p.m. today.
There will be trick and treat
bags for each child, prizes for
the best costumes, and continual
entertainment.

Sinai Women's Guild
Seminar on Nov. 7

The Women's Giuld of Sinai
Hospital will hold its annual
volunteer seminar 'Friday, Nov.
7, 9:45 a.m., in the main lecture
room.
Entitled "Sinai Safari," • the
purpose' of the seminar is to
show the volunteer the hospital
procedure from the time a pa-
tient is admitted until he is
discharged.
Dr. Julien Priver, director of
the hospital, will head the pro-
gram, assisted by Miss Edith
Glick, chief admitting officer;
William Rothman and David
Kreger, assistant directors, who
have written the script and
skit.
A complimentary luncheon
will be served at 12:15, with
Mrs. Alvin Rodecker and Mrs:
David Dunsky in charge of ar-
rangements. Mrs. Emil Roth-
man is chairman of the day.
