Lt. ELI LEVIN AUXILIARY
will hold a picnic for 100 hos-
pitalized veterans at Dearborn
Veterans Hospital on July 19.
Planned are outdoor games,
prizes and a dinner. The Aux-
iliary also will tender a picnic
for patients at Ann Arbor Vet-
erans Hospital on July 29, at
Bishop Lake.

LADIES AUXILIARY, De-
partment of Mich i g a n. was
among the groups who received
citations and pins for voluntary
service performed during the
past year at the Downtown
USO. JWVA's 13 auxiliaries
compiled 5971 hours of service
working at the center two days
a month for 12 hours a day.
Individual honors were accord-
ed Mesdames Roland Gottesman
with 100 hours, and Mrs. Hattie
Cohen, 500 hours. Representing
JWVA were Mesdames Harry
Kogan, Ben Shiffman. Kate
Dworin and Ida Kushner.

Lt. ROY F. GREEN POST
and AUXILIARY will take 30
patients at Dearborn Veterans
HOspital to see "South Pacific"
at the United Artists Theater on
Wednesday, and afterward the
group will dine out at the Le-
gion Club, it is announced by
Mrs. Harold Jacobs, Auxiliary
president, and Leonard Green-
berg, Post commander. Details
will be announced at a meeting
planned for 9 p.m., Tuesday, at
the Memorial Home.

Yacht Club Offers
Sailboating Classes

An on-the-water sailboat han-
dling course for persons 12
years old and over begins to-
day at the Great Lakes Yacht
Club, Jefferson and Nine Mile
in St. Clair Shores. The series
of five classes is co-sponsored
by the GLYC and the Jewish
Community Center 10 Mile
branch.
Boats are available for use
of class members and transpor-
tation to the club has been ar-
ranged from the 10 Mile center
and from the Esther Berman
Building. Enrollment may be
made by calling LI 7-6161.
The GLYC also has openings
for new members. For informa-

Michael Mark Tarnow, 14-
year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack M. Tarnow, of 14031 Oak
Park Blvd., Oak Park, has the
distinction of being the only
Michigan Boy Scout to be
chosen to attend the world Boy
Scout Jamboree in Israel next
week.
Michael will

The American Boy Scout
delegation is cross - sectional
and includes Catholics and

The Jamboree contingent is
attending a briefing luncheon
in New Brunswick, N. J., on
July 3. and. will proceed for a
New York sightseeing tour on
July 6. The Scouts will fly to
Israel on July 8. arriving at
Lydda Airport July 9. They
will return home on Aug. 28.
The World Youth Confer-
ence in which they will parti-
cipate was announced by Jew-
ish Agency officials in Jerusa-
lem this week. It will open on
July 28 and will be attended
by Jewish youth from 50 coun-

MISS LINDA VINOCUR

Mr. Louis Vinocur. of Pitts-
burgh, Pa.. announces the en-
gagement of his daughter,
Linda Ruth, to James Howard
Sherman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Sidney G. Sherman, of Birm-
ingham, Mich.
Mr. Sherman is a graduate
of Ohio State University, and
is affiliated with Zeta Beta Tau
fraternity. Miss Vinocur also
attended OSU, and was a mem-
ber of Sigma Delta Tau sor-
ority.
An Aug. 17 wedding is
planned.
