Dr. Kenneth L. Shmarak was
this week named as one of two
dentists nationally to receive
fellowships from Columbia Uni-
versity for the study of den-
tistry for handicapped children.
Dr. Shma-
rak, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Sid-
ney Shmarak,
of Freda Ave.,
is a June grad-
uate of the
University o f
Detroit school
of dentistry.
He is a mem-
ber of a n d
Dr. Shmarak served for a
time as treasurer of Alpha
Omega fraternity.
The fellowship is offered by
Columbia and the United
Cerebral Palsy Association, and
provides a two-year course of
study.
A reception honoring Dr.
Shmarak on his graduation and
receipt of the fellowship was
tendered last Sunday, at the
family home. Among those
who attended were his grand-
mothers, Mrs. Celia Shmarak
and Mrs. Sarah Rabinowitz,
both of Brooklyn. N. Y.
Dr. Shmarak will leave for
New York in August to begin
work on the fellowship.
Formation of an evening
chapter of the Women's Divi-
sion, American Jewish Con-
gress, will formally take place
