Shmarak was this week named as one of two dentists nationally to receive fellowships from Columbia Uni- versity for the study of den- tistry for handicapped children. Dr. Shma- rak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sid- ney Shmarak, of Freda Ave., is a June grad- uate of the University o f Detroit school of dentistry. He is a mem- ber of a n d Dr. Shmarak served for a time as treasurer of Alpha Omega fraternity. The fellowship is offered by Columbia and the United Cerebral Palsy Association, and provides a two-year course of study. A reception honoring Dr. Shmarak on his graduation and receipt of the fellowship was tendered last Sunday, at the family home. Among those who attended were his grand- mothers, Mrs. Celia Shmarak and Mrs. Sarah Rabinowitz, both of Brooklyn. N. Y. Dr. Shmarak will leave for New York in August to begin work on the fellowship.
