Rabbi Kazis Speaks
to Beth Aaron Club

activities in Society

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Schreiber were honored on their 52nd
wedding anniversary Thursday evening, at a dinner at North-
wood Inn, given by their children, grandchildren and other
members of the Schreiber family.
Miss Janice Pollstin was recently the guest of honor at a
sweet sixteen luncheon party held at Anatole's.
Miss Sallie GinAurg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A.
Ginsburg, of Oakwood Dr., Oak Park, and Miss Donna Lemberg,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lemberg, of Whitcomb Ave.,
have left for an extended tour of the West Indies. They will
also visit in Miami before returning home.
Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Axelrod, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Fried
and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Trepeck have left for New York where
they will board the. SS Nieuw Amsterdam for a Caribbean
cruise.
Mrs. Norma Wollach and children, Suzanne and Stevie, are
now residing in their new home at 23020 Cloverlawn, Oak Park.

MISS KAREN MANDLEBAUM

Announcement is made of the
engagement of Karen Kranson
Mandlebaum, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Daniel Mandlebaum,
of Ferndale, to Richard Marvin
Moss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam-
uel L. Moss, of Warrington
Ave.
The bride-elect attended the
University of Michigan, and is
presently a junior of th..: Wayne
State University school of edu-
cation. Her fiance is a U. of M.
graduate, and was affiliated
with Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity.
Plans are being made for a
small wedding on April 2.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Passer-
man, of Tyler Ave., announce
the Bar Mitzvah of their son,
Michael Victor, on Saturday, at
Cong. Beth Shmuel. A dinner in
his honor will be held the fol-
lowing day, at Sammy's Avalon
Room, Oak Park.

Detroit Girl Vies for
Miss U. of C. Honors

Louise Caryl Sweet, 18,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Sweet, 3805 W. Grand, has
been chosen queen of the Uni-
versity of Chicago's new
women's dormitory, and entered
as the dorm's contestant in the
annual Miss University of
Chicago contest.
The search for Miss U. of C.
is conducted each year in con-
junction with the university's
traditional Washington Prome-
nade. Miss Sweet is competing
with 29 other candidates, each
representing a .campus club,
fraternity or dormitory. .
Miss Sweet, a freshman, is
a graduate of Cass Technical
High School. She is leader of
the campus Israeli dance group,
member of the staff of Cap
and Gown, university yearbook,
and a candidate for Orientation
board, student group which
conducts orientation week acti-
vities for entering- students.

YI to Go Persienne

Young adults and intermedi-
ates of Young Israel of Detroit
are planning a "Purim Per-
sienne" program, to be held at
9 p.m., March 8, at the Cente?,
12521 Dexter. Prizes, enter-
tainment and refreshments are
planned.

Lewis Camera Shop Offers Weekly Special

The first of a regular week-
ly series of specials has been
inaugurated by the Lewis Cam-
era Shop, 19129 Livernois, it is
announced by Lou Lewis, prop-
rietor.
A four-light flexible arm unit
is being offered this week for
the price of the light unit alone,
representing a considerable sav-
ing to motion picture enthusi-
asts, Lewis stated.
A veteran of over 20 years
in the photography business,
Lewis is ready to assist in all
kinds of camera, film and equip-
ment problems, offers a com-
plete line of all photographic
supplies and does processing
work.
He is the sponsor of the

United Camera Club, which
meets the second and fourth
Mondays of each month at the
Livernois address.
He now has in stock the sen-
sational new Minox camera,
which is able to take perfect
pictures indoors without the
need of a flash attachment.

New Reconstructionist Book

Inter-City Teen Clubs
to Meet at Camp Tamarack

Rabbi Abraham P. Kazis, of
Cong. Beth Israel, Worcester,
Mass., will be the guest speaker
at the Beth Aaron Men's Club
annual Friday evening service
to be held at 8:30 p.m. today in
the synagogue.
Rabbi' Kazis, who is one of
the leading conservative rabbis
in New England, will address
the congregation on the subject
"A Pattern For Jewish Contin-
uity." Participating in the serv-
ice will be. Louis Ellenson and
Harmon Moss, cantors; Jerome
Silberman, Irving Glasser, Meyer
Millman and Max Silverman as
readers. Nathan Lux, president
of the Men's Club, will offer
greetings. Rabbi Benjamin H.
Gorrelick will conduct the serv-
ice and introduce the guest
speaker.
The social hour, immediately
after the service, will feature
Cantor Ihil Gildin in a solo and
a discussion on the theme
"What Can the Men's Club Do to
Instill Religion in Everyday
Living?", to be led by Morris
Litvin and Harmon Moss. Phil-
lip Chapnick, president of the
congregation, will make a pres-
entation to an outstanding mem-
ber of the Men's Club.

The Reconstructionist Press
announces the publication of
"The Case for Religious Natu-
ralism" by Jack J. Cohen. The
book applies the naturalist ap-
proach to the problems of Jew-
ish religion in the United States
and Israel.

A high spot in the Jewish
Community Center Teen club
activity program for the Davi-
son branch and Northwest ex-
tensions will be the Inter-city
Teen Council meeting, to be
held the weekend of Feb. 28,
at Camp Tamarack. Teen coun-
cils from Detroit will host
visiting councils from Toledo
and Windsor.
