First Election Since Their Merger

In their first election since
their merger last December,
the Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamiz-
rachi, united religious Zionist
organization, choose Phillip
Stollman as president.
Other officers named at the
recent election meeting, at-
tended by over 400 people, were
Rabbi Joseph Sperka, Jacob
NosAnchuk and I. W. Schlus-
sel, vice presidents; Rabbi Er-
nest Greenfield, secretary; Ar-
thur Selmar and David Apple-
baum, treasurers; Sol B. Edel-
man, life membership chair-
man; Dr. Max .Kapustin, board
of directors chairman.
The religious organization's
committee for Bar-Ilan Univers-
ity will be headed by Abe Nus-
baum. David I. Berris will be
co-chairman; Max Stollman,
treasurer. Daniel Temchin was
elected honorary president of
the organization and chairman
of the charter membership
committee.
The gathering, chaired by
Schlussel, heard a report on
past activities and future plans
by the organization's executive
director, Zvi Tomkiewicz. Greet-
ings were extended by Rabbi
Eliezer Lavi, of the Israel min-
istry of religions. He appealed
to synagogue representatives to
provide holy scrolls for hun-
dreds of new synagogues being
established in Israel.
