Announcement was made this
week of the engagement of Bar-
bara Rubenfire to Bernard
Stollman, son of Rabbi Isaac
Stollman, national president of
the Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamizrachi
Organization, and Mrs. Stoll-
man, of Cortland Ave.
The bride-elect is the daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ru-
benfire, of Wildwood Ave., Oak
Park. Mr. Stollman attended
Wayne State University. A Jan.
26 wedding is planned.

Hadassah Event
Oct. 30 to Climax
Honor Roll Drive

Hadassah members and their
escorts will celebrate the suc-
cessful culmination of the an-
nual fund-raising, Honor Roll
drive at a dance and buffet sup-
per, from 9 p.m., Wednesday,
at the Latin Quarter.
Dancing to the music of Dave
Diamond's Orchestra, surprise
entertainment and a continuous
buffet and bar
service will be
among the fea-
tures of the

Ima, a Youth Aliyah mother
who supports a child in Israel
for a year by the contribution
of $600.
Under the leadership of Mrs.
Norman Rom, Chapter presi-
dent, Detroit Hadassah has sent
a large delegation to the Hadas-
sah national convention, Oct.
24 to 28, at Philadelphia.
Convention speakers will in-
clude Abba S. Eban, Israel Am-
bassador to the U.S., and Dr.
Kalman J. Mann, director of the
Hadassah Medical Organization.

Sophomore Heads
Wayne State Council

A four-session training pro-
gram, conducted by the Detroit
Section of the National Coun-
cil of Jewish Women, with the
help of professionals from the
Jewish Welfare Federation and
other agencies, • will begin on
,Oct. 30. The workshop will be
limited to 60 volunteers.
The sessions will be held
from 12:30 to .3:00 p.m. on for
consecutive Wednesdays, at
Council House, 8436- W. Mc-
Nichols. Dessert luncheon will
be served.
The first session will explain
the Council's community serv-
ices. Speakers will include Mrs.
Joseph Welt, past president of
the National and the Detroit
Section of Council, Mrs. Eliza-
beth Wilkins Livingstone, di-
rector of volunteer services,
United Community Services of
Detroit and William Avrunin,
associate director, Jewish Wel-
fare Federation of Detroit.
The second session, on Nov.
6, will discuss the role of the
volunteer and will include Miss
Clarice Freud, professor, school
of social work, University of
Michigan and Mrs. Julian H.

An annual dinner-dance will
be presented by HOME RELIEF
SOCIETY, in a fund-raising ef-
fort on Nov. 9 at the Sheraton
Cadillac. The affair will include
a floor show with Hal Gordon's
WXYZ-TV orchestra. Prizes, in-
-eluding an all expense paid va-
cation at Grossinger's, will be
given out. Mrs. William Bonin
is chairman of the affair; Mrs.
Maurice Garelick, pledge chair-
man; Mrs. Jack Levitt, year
book chairman; and Mrs Abra-
ham Sinaberg and Mrs. Ray-
mond Suhd, her assistants. A
victory luncheon will be held
on Nov. 1 at Mrs. Charles
Smith's home, 18654 San Juan.

RACHI will sponsor a donor
luncheon at 12:30 p.m., Nov. 14,
at Holiday Manor, according to
Mrs. Morris Goldberg, presi-
dent. Guest speaker will be
Rabbi Benjamin gorrelick, who
recently visited Mizrachi insti-
tutions in Israel. Ruth Gold-
man will present a program of
Israeli songs. For reservations,

Kunin, Servetter, Kellman and
Leader. The Mizrachi Chapter
will meet at 12:30 p.m.,
Wednesday, at Young Israel,
Dexter and Fullerton.

be held by KINNERT CHAP-
TER, Pioneer Women, at 12:30
p.m., Wednesday, at the Hayim
Greenberg building. Tania Ber-
man and Ann Pais will be host-

Planned for Jan. 12 Sets
Adas Shalom Young People's

League will hold its Installa-
tion Dance at 8:15 p.m., Satur-
day, in the synagogue social
hall, with Mel Ball and his band
providing the music for danc-
ing.
Rabbi Jacob E. Segal will in-
stall the following recently-
elected officers:
Jill Linden, president; Har-
riet Gaba, vice-president; Edna
Latt, treasurer; Dolores Nach-
man, secretary; 'Sam .Johnson,
regional' board delegate; and
Paul Stern, chaplain.
The entire young adult popu-

chairman of education, mental
hygien and legislation.
The concluding session, on
Nov. 20, will provide a sum-
mary and award certificates by
Mrs: Leonard Weiner and Mrs.
Hershel V. Kreger, members of
the NCJW board. A talk will
be given by Aaron Krasner of
the Wayne University school of
social work.
The volunteer workshop com-

omore Leon Cohen has been
named permanent chairman of
the recently - formed Student=
Faculty Council, called by the
university's paper, The Wayne
Collegian, "the most important
governing body on campus."
Cohen is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Cohen, of Indiana
Ave. His father is a vice-presi-
dent of the Jewish Community
Council, and both his parents
and his brother, Jerry, are ac-
tive in activities of the Ameri-
can Jewish Congress.
