Fred Steingold Wins
Advertising Contest

MRS. SOL BLASER

Barbara Fay Goldman, daUgh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben
Goldman, exchanged marital
vows with Sol Blaser, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Blaser, of
Toronto, Ont., in a ceremony
June 30, at Zack's Catering.
The -bride, who wore a gown
of Chantilly lace and net with
a fingertip veil, was attended
by her sister, Joyce Goldman,
as maid of honor. Peggy Gold-
man was her bridesmaid.
Ruben Blaser was his broth-
er's best man, and ushers were
Sam Blaser, Sidney Gottlieb,
Jerry Goodis and_ Harry Hel-
fond.
A reception was held in the
evening, in the home of the
bride's parents, after a dinner
for the family. The couple are
honeymooning in the Lauren-
tian Mountains. Upon their re-
turn, they- will reside on Lawr-
ence Ave., in Toronto.

Fred S. Steingold, a 1957
graduate of the University of
Michigan journalism school, has
won first prize in the Harry
Suffrin advertising competition.
The award, for his institution-
al advertisement, is a $250
scholarship.
Steingold, who was affiliated
with Sigma Delta Chi journal-
istic fraternity at U. of M., col-
laborated on the score for the
1955 Michigan Union Opera
which toured the state. Music
chairman of the prize-winning
Gomberg Michigras Showboat
in 1956, he was tapped by Pow-
der and Horn honorary society
for his handling of newspaper
publicity for Musket, all-campus
comedy production. He also was
a contributor to the Michigan
Daily magazine section.
Steingold was a student at
Central High School here. A
member of the school's band and
orchestra, he played saxophone
in his own -dance orchestra. He
was a member of Gompers
Chapter, A Z A. Twenty-one
years old, he is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Nathaniel Steingold,
of 19795 Stansbury.

his first solo movie, is now
being edited at Paramount.

camping committee chairman,
510 youngsters are registered
for the Jewish Community Cen-
ter's Day Camps which opened
Monday.
Camps operating this summer
are Davison Day Camp, 4059
W. Davison, Bernard Weiss, di-
rector; and Ten Mile Day Camp,
Ted Kaczander, director. Abra-
ham Kastenbaum is camp co-
ordinator.
During the two camping pe-
riods—July 1 to 19 and July 22
to Aug. 16, boys and girls 5
through 11 years old will par-
ticipate in outdoor sports, group
games, arts and crafts, commu-
nity singing, nature study, hik-
ing and overnight trips to the
day camp shelter at Camp
Tamarack, Holly.
Campers will swim in Detroit
public school pools through ar-
rangement with the Department
of Parks and Recreation.
