Senate Bill Exempts
Kosher Process Test
WASHINGTON, (JTA)—A
bill authorizing the Secretary
of Agriculture to exempt
kosher slaughter of poultry
from compulsory inspection
was passed by the Senate.
The bill will now be consid-
ered by the House.
The proposed legislation
instructs the Agriculture De-
partment to exempt "process-
ing as required by recognized
religious dietary laws" from
government inspection. It
would impose penalties on
merchants for selling "un-
wholesome and adulterated"
products.
