Cultural Exchange
The America-Israel Cultural
Foundation, formerly known as
American Fund for Israel In-
stitutions, is doing a big job
which does not get sufficient
publicity . . The Foundation
projects a new policy which ac-
cording to Samuel Rubin, its
president, will emphasize much
more the two-way character of
its functions . . . Last year, the
Foundation announced a Mid-
dle East Scholarship Fund . . .
The scholarship will enable
qualified students from Arab
countries, as well as from Tur-
key, Greece, India and Burma,
to study at the Hebrew Univer-
sity, the Weizmann Institute of
Science, the Technion and the
Academies of Music But this

. . . It has already brought two
Arab students to attend Bran-

two Greek students will be do-
ing their graduate work at the

The American-Israel Cultural
Foundation is helping to build
museums, art centers, opera
houses and community cultural
centers in Israel . . . In the
pioneer regions, the Negev and
Galilee, it has made possible
the building of a whole chain
of these centers in which artists
who have hitherto performed
only in the cities will now be
seen in these frontier towns and
settlements which have long
thirsted for theater and music
. . . In other words, our pio-
neers who carry the burden of
frontier defenge will not be
cut off any longer from the cul-
tural life of Israel. . . .
At the same time, the Foun-
dation is expanding its pro-
gram of bringing Israeli talent
to the United States . . . For

EVERYTHING YOU DO!
FROM THE MOMENT you awaken until yot1 go
to bed, almost everything you do is closely de-
pendent upon the operation of trucks. In fact,
even while you're asleep, trucks are working for
you. (Beds arrive by truck, too, of course.)
Without trucks, your favorite food market
would have empty shelves. Without trucks, you
wouldn't find gas stations located conveniently
almost everywhere you turn. Without trucks, the
building of new homes, factories, and stores
would slow to a walk and businesses of all kinds
everywhere would suffer.
Sooner or later, everything you eat, wear, or
use depends on trucks for transportation. Even-
tually, everything has to get to you the con-
, sumer. So, when you consider that trucks haul
three times the tonnage handled by all the other
forms of transportation combined, you realize
how very important they are to you!
