you don't stop with one miracle

IT WAS A MIRACLE

seeing her father step from the rescue

plane into Israel.

Alive? Despite Hitler? Despite the terrible postwar oppres-
sion? She was afraid to believe it.

Not a letter, not a prayer of hers had been answered for
(years. The country where her father lived is curtained off from
the free world—people don't write.
Then a month ago, the silence ended. An exit door had
.opened briefly... her father was on his way.
Feel glad that this miracle happened—and that you helped
At to happen by -giving to the United Jewish Appeal.
But just one miracle isn't enough. How can it be when
t00,000 new Jewish refugees hppe and pray for just such
miracles to reach safety, freedom and new lives ?
More than 40,000 are still in the country from which
shis father came. They can leave—if there are funds.

.

From Egypt, 50,000 are leaving because they have no
choice. A new dictator, like Hitler before him, is pushing them
out, terrorized and • stripped penniless. -
, Another group is halfway to the goal-17,000 Jews who
fled Communist Hungary. Half are in Austria still waiting for
that precious chanCe to begin again in a free land.
All these refugees—and others—desperately need rescue:
We can save them. We can bring many to free Western
lands—and even more to Israel. Despite their own grave prob-
lems, Israel's people will welcome them all.
Remember the Hitler years, when Jewish. refugees died
for lack of a place to go? This time refugees don't- have to
die. This time, there is an Israel.

So give today. Don't stop with one miracle. Give your
increased gift to the regular United Jewish Appeal—then add
to it a great "over and above" rescue gift to the $100,000,000
UJA Emergency Rescue. Fund.
