Sharron Losh, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. George Losh, of 2699
Glendale, became the bride of
Hairy Lerman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Zeb Lerman, of 3264 Tyler,
in a ceremony performed by
Rabbi Hayim Donin, Dec. 25, in
the Mayfair Room on Schaefer.
The bride wore a gown of
Dupioni silk, highlighted by a
decollete neckline. Lace ap-
pliques and seed pearls formed
the gown's center front panel.
Her veil of illusion fell from a
crown of seed pearls, and she
carried a white orchid and
stephanotis on a white conse-
cration prayerbOok.
Harriet Losh was her sister's
maid of honor, and bridesmaids
were Evelyn Parsky, Carol
Karp, Florence Mintz and Pam-
ela Siegel. Irving Morof was the
bridegroom's best man, and
ushers included Eddie Mittel-
dorf, Sy Mintz, Morry Efros and
Sheldon Lerman. Ronald Siegel
was the ring bearer.
Following a honeymoon in
Miami Beach, Fla., the young
couple will take up residence
on Chicago Blvd. Out-of-town
guests were from Los Angeles,
Toledo and New York.
Before their marriage, both
_attended Wayne State Univer-
is.-here Mrs. Lerman was a
member of Delta Phi Epsilon
sorority, and Mr, Lerman was
affiliated with Mu Beta Chi fra-
ternity.

MRS. BENEDICT I. ALPER

In a ceremony solemnized
Dec. 23, at Cong. Beth Israel, in

Flint, Mich., Helen Pines,
daughter of Mr. and MrS. Jacob
Pines, of 3310 Begole, Flint, was
united in marriage to Benedict
Israel Alper, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Myer Alper, of Brooklyn,
N. Y. Rabbi Phillip Kieval of-
ficiated.
The bride's gown was of
champagne - colored Chantilly
lace and styled along princess
lines, with a high neckline and
shirred bracelet length sleeves.
The lace skirt Over cafe au lait
taffeta fell in graceful folds to
the scalloped hemline.
Her imported illusion 6eil was
crowned by a Juliet cap of
matching lace, and she carried

a bouquet of phaelanopsis or-
chids --and ivy streamers.

The bride's sister, Mrs.. Julian
Feiler, of Flint, was her matron
of honor, and Judith Alper, the
bridegroom's sister, was maid of
honor. Rosalyn Joan Feiler, the
bride's niece, was junior brides-

maid.
Julian Feiler was the bride-
groom's best man, - while Irving
Pines, the bride's brother, was
an usher.
Following the ceremony,
luncheon was served to 175
guests in the synagogue. The
couple left for a honeymoon in
Bermuda, and after Jan. 1 Will
be at home at 309 Sterling Place,
Brooklyn, N.Y.
The bride is a graduate of the
University of Michigan. Mr. Al-
per received his education at
Brigham Young, Ohio State and
New York Universities, receiv-
ing a master's degree from the
latter.

Older Adults Program.
Starts at New Center

A prograM for older adults
will be initiated at the Jewish
Community Center's new
branch, 15110 W. Ten Mile Road,
Jan. 9, 1:30 p.m., with a musi-
cale featuring a well-known
pianist and vocalist. Refresh-
ments will be served.
Activities of special interest
to Older Adults will be offered
at the Ten Mile branch during
the coming season. They will
include films, lectures, book re-
views, trips to points of interest
in the greater Detroit area,
musical programs, parties, and
dancing.

Egyptian Persecutions

Herman Gibson, president of

the Flint Branch of the National
Association for the Advance-
ment of Colored People, an-
nounced that the local group
had called on President Eisen-
hower to use his powers to put
a halt to "infamous acts" against
Jews in Egypt by the Egyptian
government.

Mrs. Zena Harman, of Is-
rael, for several years now one
of the leading members of the
executive of the United Nations
Childrens Fund, was re-elected
to the UNICEF executive board
as well as to the chairmanship
of the organization's highly im-
portant program committee.

The annual donor luncheon
of the Detroit League, Jewish
National Home for Asthmatic
Children at Denver, will be

Highlight of the afternoon
will be a musical skit to be pre-

Announces Observance
of National VFW Week

Perry P. Burnstine, command-
er of Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 9206, this week called at
tention to the observance, Jan.
20 to 26 of National VFW Week.
In making the announcement,
Burnstine said that of approxi-
mately 22,000,000 veterans in
the United States, only 5,000,000
belong to any veterans organi-
zation.
He said one of the basic pol-
icies of the VFW and other
veterans groups is to pave the
way for veterans' rights through
legislation. He also urged en-
rollment of qualified veterans
in the VFW.
