Miss Mary Bakst will return to her voice studies in Milan,
Italy, during the coming week, after spending several weeks
here with her family. Miss Bakst will remain with her sister,
Mrs. Louis Zucker, 19341 Riverview, until her departure for
New York on Tuesday, when she boards the Cristoforo Colombo
for Genoa. Prior to her visit home, Miss Bakst had been in Italy
for five years, part of that time on a Fulbright Award. She will
be honored at a farewell party from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, at
the home of another sister, Mrs. William Kass, 19515 Prevost.
She may be contacted by her friends until Tuesday at KE. 5-0164.
Among the many Detroiters spending the High Holiday sea-
son in Israel are Mr. and Mrs. William Hordes, Abraham War-
shaw, Manuel Weisman, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gill, Mr. and Mrs,
Max Stollman, and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Edelson.
Miss Florence Fine, of Marquette, Mich., an active worker
in Jewish communal affairs and Hadassah in the Upper Penin-
sula, sailed last week aboard the Queen Mary for. France. Miss
Fine will continue on a Grand Tour throughout Europe and
Israel.
Sam Weintraub, of Oak Park, was a passenger aboard, the
Queen Mary which sailed Sept. 19 for France. Mr. Weintraub
will stop in Paris, Warsaw, Krakow, Vienna, and Rome before
visiting Israel.
Mr. and Mrs. Mendel Stark, of Broadstreet Ave., have re-
turned from a South American cruise.
Morris Malec returned to his home in Israel last week after
spending several years in Detroit as a student. Mr. Malec sailed
aboard the SS United States for England.
Dr. Alwyn V. Freeman, consultant to the Foreign Relations
Committee of the United States Senate, is now traveling in Africa
with Senator Green, of Rhode Island. Their six-week trip in-
cludes Tripoli, Tunis, Ethiopia, Johannesburg; the Belgian Congo,
and Casablanca. -
Former Detroiters Mr. and Mrs. Julius Bronstein, now of
Miami, recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Four of their daughters are living in Detroit—Mrs. Larry Mintz,
Mrs. Willard Zamsky, Mrs. Jack Kaplan, Mrs. Max Ellis, and
one, Mrs. Abe Riskin, is in Flint. They also have three sons, Merle,
William, and Martin; and 19 grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack A. Yager and family, formerly , of Cedar
Radis, Ia., have moved into their new home at 19308 Coyle.
Dr. and Mrs. Harry Gall and their children, Barbara and
Steven, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., now reside here at 16901
Log Cabin. Dr. Gall, a pediatrician, is affiliated with the Lincoln.
Clinic on W. Grand Blvd. Barbara is entering her third year
as a science major at the University of Michigan. Steven is in the
eighth grade in the Halley School.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Wolman and children, Barry and Barbara,
formerly of Santa Rosa Dr., are now residing in their new home
at 20221 Huntington.
Mr. and Mrs. Hyman D. Nudell, of Pembroke Ave., recently
entertained at a dinner for a group of relatives and friends in
honor of the forthcoming marriage of their nephew, Donald
Schlossberg, to Rhoda Garber. The couple received a gift in
