Losh-Lerman Rites Israel to Commence Ad ministration Course

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Silber, of 4010 Clements, will be honored
guests at a golden wedding anniversary party, to be held Sunday
evening at the Mayfair Room, on Dexter. The couple has been
resident in Detroit since 1909. Mr. Silber was formerly president
of the Israel Club of Detroit and vice-preSident of the Yiddishe
Folks Farein. Officiating at a reenactment of the wedding cere-
mony will be Rabbi Herbert Eskin and Cantor Hyman Adler.
Many out-of-town guests are expected to attend the celebration,
joining with the couple's children, Mr. and Mrs. Alec H. Sherr,
Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Silber and Mr. and Mrs. David V. Howell,
and their seven grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Ross (Sandy Gellman), of Los Angeles,
Calif. are here on a visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Gellman, of Monica Ave., and Dr. and Mrs. John L. Rosefield, of
Sussex Ave.
Miss Diane Steinhardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob E.
Steinhardt, left Wednesday for New York to visit with her sister,
Marilyn, before leaving for Israel to spend nine months as a
member of the Habonim Workshop there. Prior to her departure,
Miss Steinhardt had as a house guest Miss Esther Paran, of Louis-
ville, Ky.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Daniels and children, Stephen and
Alison, of Santa Rosa Dr., have returned from a vacation in
California, where they went to visit relatives.
A recent guest at Scaroon Manor, on Schroon Lake, N.Y.,
was Mr. Ben Fingerott, of Monterey ,Ave.

61st annual meeting of the Jewish War Veterans recently in
Milwaukee, Wis. Among the local delegates and visitors repre-

Signs Deal with Edison Co.

With the purchase of approx-
imately 1,700 acres of land in
Troy Township, Anchor Real
Estate recently closed one of
the largest vacant land trans-
actions in Oakland County in
recent years, it was announced
this week by the company's
owner, Harry L. Wood.
The project began over a year
and a half ago, and has just
been concluded. The Detroit
Edison Company's area devel-
opment division were the pur-
chasers.
A 22-year-old French Count-
ess will be rubbing her royal
elbows with the horse-playing
fraternity in "Three Men on A
Horse," the John Cecil Holm
comedy hit, coming to the
Northland Playhouse for one
week, beginning Tuesday, Sept.
11.
She is the Countess Jacqueline
di Sibour, born in Paris, who
escaped from there two days
before the German occupation
with her parents, lived in Af-
rica for three years, came to
this .country when she was 17
and is married to Orson Bean,
star of "Three Men on a Horse."
She also will play his stage wife
at Northland Playhouse. -

Miss Losh is a senior in the
college of education at Wayne
State University, and is a mem-

Circle Opens Fall

coining academic year at Eliezer
Kaplan School of Economics
and Social Science of the He-
brew University.
The new course, to be con-
ducted with the cooperation of
the Israel Civil Service Coin-
mission will be open to civil
servants and those already hold-
ing baccalaureates from the
university . For the former, the
course will last two years, and
for the latter, one.
Public officials who are rec-
ommended to the course, will
receive leave of absence from
their posts.
During recent year s, the
Israel government and the He-
brew University invited a num-
ber of foreign experts—mainly
under the auspices of the United
N a t i ons Technical Assistance
Administration—to advise on a
suitable- academic program of
supplementary training for
government employees and uni-
versity graduates wishing to
specialize in the field.
Visiting professors who will
teach in the new course will in-
clude Prof. Martin Kriesberg,
of Washington, who was largely
