All Parties Urge Berlin- .
to Build Jewish Center
BERLIN (JTA)—All three po-
litical parties represented in the
lower house of the Berlin mu-
nicipal legislature proposed
jointly that the city build a
Jewish center for the local Jew-
ish community.
The building would be a cul-
tural center located on the site
of.the destroyed Fasanenstrasse
Synagogue and would consti-
tute a form of restitution for
Jewish institutions razed by the
Nazis. The motion, offered by
the Social Democrats, Christian
Democratic Union and Free
Democrats, will be discussed at
a coming meeting of the lower
house and political observers
expect it to pass.
