Mr. and Mrs. Gerald A. Gold-
farb, of 2032 Greenwich, Sagin-
aw, Mich., announce the en-
gagement of their daughter,
Marcia, to Dr. Louis Peven, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Peven, of
18637 Birwood, Detroit.
Miss Goldfarb is a graduate of
the University of Michigan
where she was a member of
Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. She
is now a speech correctionist in
the Garden City School System.
Dr. Peven received his degree
from the University of Detroit
Dental School.
A July wedding is planned.

been introduced in Central so
that students needing extra in-
struction in weak subjects may

tain hour each week in which
teacher's in that department
will be on hand to render this
service .

ter's commencement have been.
announced but as is traditional
in Central, the subject of dis-
courSe has been withheld and
will remain secret until the day
of graduation. The speakers are
Winnie Ledger, Alvin Sulkes,
Rochelle Nachman, Jerry. Kaz-
(fan,. Judy Oppenheim, and
Jerry Rakotz.

"The.._ Rights and. Privileges
of an American Citizen" was
the theme- of this semester's
Civitan contest won by Estelle
Strayer. The essay contest is
held each year on a nation-
wide level. Runner up from Cen-
tral is Alice Greenbaum.
Art works, contributed by stu-
dents in the public parochial
and private schools of Michigan
on the theme "What Brother-
hood Means in Our Community,"
will go on display Tuesday, at
the Anna Werbe Galleries, 19458
Livernois.
Sponsored by the Detroit
Round Table, the exhibit will
continue through April 11, and
is part of the international art
program which will culminate
with an exhibit of the best en-
tries at the World Brotherhood
Assembly in Brussels, Belgium,
in July.
Among jury members for the
local competition are Mrs. Clar-
ence Enggass, chairman, and
Mrs. Werbe, herself a painter
and director of the Werbe Gal-
leries.

With a huge sucess behind
them, and the applause still
ringing in their ears, the Drama
Club tucked another feather in
its cap with the presentation
of "George Washington Slept
Here."
The girls' swimming team has
had four meets, the fourth tak-
ing place March 31. They have
won one and lost two.
Both the boys' and the girls'
golf teams are warming up for
their games. The first meet for
the boys is with U. of D. and the
girls' will be announced soon.
April 3 is the date for the
Councilettes' fashion show. The
girls will be modeling their own
clothes and their theme is "Flor-
ida Fashion Flair." Those who
are directing the show are:
Margie Stein, Marcia Nelson, and
Ilene Gillman.
The Spring Fling, a new an-
nual, semi-formal dance, will be
held April 30 at Lovett Hall.
Tickets will go on sale soon.
. The Mumford . Mockery, the
April fool edition of the Mercury,
comes out today with another
hilarious issue topping last year's
side-splitter. -The Mercury staff -
has -really done a . terrific job
with the paper this year.

Dr. Herman. Teitel, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Morris Teitel, of 19972
Marlowe. Rabbi Jacob E. Segal
and Cantor Nicholas Fenakel
officiated.
The bride wore a goWn of
Italian- silk taffeta, with bodice
of appliqued- lace embroidered
with seed pearls. The gown was
highlighted by a basque waist
and skirt of nylon tulle, which
extended into a cathedral train.
Her veil of imported silk illu-
sion fell in three tiers to her fin-
gertips from a lace crown em-
broidered with pearls and se-
quins. She carried white or-
chids on a prayer book, with
streamers of stephanotis and
trailing ivy.
Mrs. Donald Polk was the
bride's matron of honor, and
bridesmaids were Pat Hartnian,
Joan Birholtz, Ilene Abel and
Virginia Polasky. Ben Teitel was
the best man, while ushers in-
cluded Dr. Donald H. Polk, How-
ard Koss, - Gordon Abel and Ed-
ward Stein. Seating the guests
were Mel Eisenberg, Jack Guz
and Bob Hirsch.
Following dinner and a recep-
tion, the couple .left for a wed-
ding..trip to Miami Beach, Fla.
