Mrs. Abe Silberstein, of 2752 Boston Blvd., has returned from
Chicago, Ill., where she recently attended a celebration honoring
the engagement of her grandson, Will Harold Richmond, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Richmond, of Chicago, to Esther Wolf.
Mr.' and Mrs. Irving Layne and daughter, Barbara Sue, for-
merly of LaSalle Blvd., are now residing at 19453 Burgess.
Morris L. Peltz, son of Mrs. Goldie Peltz, of Clairmount Ave.,
was recently graduated from the University of Michigan. Medical
School. He will intern at Los Angeles County General Hospital,
Los Angeles, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Elkin (Betty Glass) are here with their
two daughters, Natalie Sue and Risa Lynn, from San Francisco
Calif., on a visit to Mrs. Elkin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Glass, of 3207 Blaine. Several affairs are planned in honor of the
Elkins during their six-week stay here.
Dr. Harry A. Paysner, of Parkside Ave., will leave today aboard
the SS United States, with his brother, Edward, of Orlando, Fla.,
on the first leg of a trip that will take them to Israel, Turkey,
Greece, France, Italy, Switzerland and England.
Mrs. Ophelia Herman, of Clements Ave., will leave Monday
for Germany where she will join her husband, Pfc. Leonard Her-
man, for a summer vacation.
Recently, back from Israel where they visited their mother in
Ramat Yochanan, Israel, are Detroit sisters, Mrs. Marion Keer
and Mrs. Ida Mandell.
Mr. and Mrs. Meyer E. Charlip will hold open house from 2
to 5 p. m., Sunday, in their home, 18114 Oak Dr., in honor of the
graduation of their two sons, Eliot from Wayne University Law
School, and Bud from the University of Michigan.
Mrs. Samuel B. Danto, of Hendrie Blvd., Huntington Woods,
recently entertained Mrs. Irving Small, president-elect of League
of Jewish Women's Organizations. Also her guests were League
past presidents and newly-elected vice-presidents.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Gottlieb, of 19316 Warrington, re-
turned recently aboard the SS Nieuw Amsterdam from a trip that
took them to Israel, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium and Portugal.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Phillips, of 18467 Woodingham, will enter-
tain at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m., July 4, in honor of the
return home of their son, Corp. Will Phillips, from Camp Gordon,
Ga., where he served two years as an instructor with the U.S.
Army Signal Corps. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Fishman, of W. Outer Dr., were hdsts
at a recent surprise dinner and reception honoring the 30th wed-
ding anniversaries of Mr. and Mrs. Hy Gordon, of Santa Barbara
Dr., and Mrs. and Mrs. Arthur Campbell, of Prairie Ave.
Dr. and Mrs. Joel I. 'Hamburger are currently vacationing in
Miami Beach, Fla., following their graduation from the University
of Michigan, Dr. Hamburger from the school of medicine, his wife,
the former Hilda Fishman, from the college of education. Joining
them in Florida are Mrs. Hamburger's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Fishman. Dr. Hamburger's parents are the Isadore Hamburgers, of
Afton Rd. Dr. and Mrs. Hamburger will shortly take up tem-
porary residence in Columbus, 0., where Dr. Hamburger will serve
his internship at University Hospital. -
Dr. and Mrs. Ezra Lipkin and daughter, Eleanor, of Detroit ;
were recent guests in San Francisco, Calif., where Dr. Lipkin
participated in the convention of the American Rheumatism As-
sociation. Miss Lipkin went from there for a visit in Los Angeles,
and Dr. and Mrs. Lipkin flew for a vacation to Hawaii. They will
return together after a reunion in Los Angeles.
Drs. Sol Meyers, David Sandweiss and Sol Rosenzweig were
among the Detroit physicians who actively participated in seminar
discussions at the convention of the American Medical Association
in San Francisco, Calif.
Dr. Ted Winshall, of 17210 James Couzens, is in New York this
week as a delegate to the Zionist Organization of America con-
vention, June 23 to 28, at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

fand was wed to Dr. Raymond
S. Kurtzman. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Gelfand, of 4327 W. Outer Dr.
The bridegroom's parents are
the Kenneth H. Kurtzmans, of
3218 Fullerton. The ceremony
was performed by the bride's
uncle, Rabbi Max Weiner, of
Camden, N.J.
The bride chose a gown of
mousseline de soie lace, appli-
qued with seed pearls and iri-
descent sequins, and featuring
a portrait neckline. Her waist-
length Veil of tulle fell from a
crown of matching tulle dotted
with seed pearls. She carried a
prayerbook with orchids and
stephanotis.
Sally Stahl, of Oil City, Pa.,
was the bride's maid of honor,
and Dr. Robert Licht served as
the bridegroom's best man.

nounced the appointment of Dr.
SAMUEL M. BLUMENFELD,

ish Studies in Chicago, as direc-
