Kaplan-Cherniak Rites
Celebrated in Windsor
Graduation honors came twice
this month to Ramon Gilbert,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Gil-
bert, of 3110 Ewald Circle. He
received a bachelor of arts de-
gree from Brandeis University
and also a voice and opera cer-
tificate from Longy School of
Music at Cambridge, Mass.
The talented Detroiter, who
started his college career on an
athletic scholarship to Brandeis,
soon was persuaded by music
professors at the school to devote
his full attention to singing and
voice study.
Gilbert appeared in many
music programs at Brandeis, and
his rich baritone voice was heard
in the leading roles of several
operas, including "La Serva
Padrona," "The Old Maid and
the Thief," "Don Giovanni,"
