Opens Season July 4

Lake, N.Y., is predicting that
1954 summer vacationing will
run well ahead of all previous
years, with tourists spending
much of that time at resorts.
He bases his statement on
the fact that Stevensville Lake
Hotel has been flooded with in-
quiries and reservations topping
anything the resort has enjoyed
in the past.
He adds that to meet the ex-
pected increase in resort trade,
Stevensville Lake Hotel has
added many new improvements,
including luxurious, modern ap-
pointments in rooms, airLcondi-
tioned dining room, •improve-
ments to the already noted cui-
sine. -
The playhouse, "a show place
in the mountains" f e a t u r es
Broadway stars and dancing
nightly to two name bands. The
July 4 weekend will raise the
curtain on t h e summer pro-
grams, and guests will be treat-
ed to specially planned pro-
grams, around-the-Clock social
and sport activities and "gay
surprises." •

To Elect New Officers
Election of officers to head
the Landsma.nshaften Council of
Detroit will be held at a break-
fast and final meeting of the
year for the Council at 10 a.m.,
Sunday, at Turover Temple,

Presidents of various lands-
manshaft organizations in De-
troit, the Council executive com-
mittee and two delegates from
each organization will partici-
pate.
Reports of past activities, the
participation of the Council in
various local and national proj -
efts and a discussion of consoli-
dating some of the smaller and
weaker groups will be consid-
ered.
Silver Beach Hotel
Remodels Its Quarters
When Silver Beach Hotel in
South Haven, Mich. opened its
doors to guests for the first time
this season—on Memorial Day=
patrons who had been coming
there for years couldn't help but
admire the changes.
A complete remodeling of the
hotel, including beautification of
its five acres of land located on
the sandy beaches of Lake Mich-
igan, was only one change. In
addition, many rooms haVe been
newly-constructed into deluxe
rooms featuring tiled baths.
Under the management of
Louis Jacobs and Jacob Turk,
the Silver Beach offers only Jew-
ish foods in ; its modernized
kitchens. Nightly entertainment
is provided the guests, and is
headed by Sally, "the Jewish
Kate Smith," who has appeared
on TV, spent several years in the
Catskills and in recent years has
headed the social activities of the
Silver Beach.

Israel Expects to Double
1953's Citrus Profit
TEL AVIV, (JTA) — The Is-
rael citrus crop is expected to
bring in 535,000,000 in foreign
currency, as against $17,000,000
last year.
A total of 7,500,000 cases has
already been shipped to most
countries in Europe and also a
number of Latin Am e r i c a it
countries. It is expected that
the final season figure will be
8•,,000,000 cases.
