Livernois. While decorating is

Folk Chorus to Inaugurate
Season with Dinner Event
The • Jewish Folk Chorus will
open it 29th season on Sunday,
with a dinner program. An-
nouncement will be thade of
plans- for the season, including
the group's mid-winter concert
on Dec. 6, at which the oratorio
'Tzvei Brider" will be presented.
The Women's Auxiliary is
planning its 14th annual donor
luncheon, to be held Jan. 20, at
Holiday Manor.

Circle to Begin Second Family Series
The second series devoted to
the family unit, "Marriage and
Family Problems," will be inau-
grated at 9 - p.m., today, at the
Workmen's Circle Center. The
programs are sponsbred by the
Circlels educational-social coun-
cil.
Richard Marks, research di-
rector of the -Detroit Cominis-
sion on Community Relations,
will be • oday's speaker, talking
on "Answering the Child's - Ques-
tions on Race." His address will
be preceded by the showing of
the film "To - Live Together."
Subsequent programs will be
held the second Friday of . No-
vember, December and January,
and each is arranged as a film
discussion or panel group. Ad-
mission to all events is free to
members and their friends.

Cohen Honored
Spokesmen for the United
Hebrew Schools, Zionist Organi-
zation, Jewish National Fund,
Allied Jewish Campaign and
Shaarey Zedek paid honor to
Harry Cohen Tuesday night, at
the Shaarey Zedek, - on his 70th
birthday, in recognition of his
many communal services.
Abe Kasle, • chairman of the
Cohen Testimonial Committee,
under whose direction the gath-
ering was arranged, speaking in
behalf of the Hebrew Schools
and the Jewish Welfare Feder-
ation, praised Mr. Cohen for his
work for the schools and for
local campaigns, in addition to
his activities for the Balfour
Balls.
Calling attention to Mr. Co-
hen's devoted and 'consecrated
participation in Shaarey.Zedek's
service, Rabbi Morris Adler said
that "as a -Cohen he has liVed
as a priest among us; as a
shiach tzibUr he is" our ambassa-
dor when he leads the Congrega-
tion in prayers; he is not a
specialist who selects one cause,
but supports every affirmative
aspect of Jewish life."
. • William Hordes, JNF presi-
dent, called attention to the
extension of the greatest pos-
sible gift to Mr. Cohen—the
planting of a forest in his
honor in Israel. It was an-
nounced that half of the proj-
ect is completed and that it
is necessary to secure a fund
for the planting of 5,000 more
trees\ to make the forest of
10,000 trees a reality.
Dr. A. M. Hershman recalled
Mr. Cohen's many communal
deeds and declared that in this
case the septuagenarian's char-
acter is his best praise. He 'de-
clared that Mr. Cohen "is - loved
by all because all know he is
sincere."
Rabbi Moses Lehrman, as
president of the Zionist Organi-
zation of Detroit, presented.Mr.
Cohen with the temporary cer-
tificate from JNF signifying that
a forest Will be planted in his
name- in Israel on JNF land.

Refreshments " were served by
