At a recent surprise party, Mr. and Mrs. David Olshansky
celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Present were their
seven children, 10 of their grandchildren and their families. The
party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Olshansky, of
. Cortland Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Flaisher and son, David, are currently
in New Orleans, La., visiting the parents of Mrs. Flaisher.
At its pledge dinner recently, Beta Lambda Chapter of Phi
Sigma Sigma sorority, Wayne University, admitted Mildred Sher-
- man and Lydia Backrack. On Nov. 26, the group held its annual
founder's day program, at which alumnae, actives and new
pledges were present. Geraldine Baskin was hostess at the party.
Mr). and Mrs. Allen Braver and their three children have
moved into their new home at 16551 Birwood.
William B. Isenberg has returned from a 10-day stay in New
York where he attended a New York University accountants' con-
ference.
Mr. and Mrs. Saul R. Levin have returned from a few days'
stay in New York and visits with their sons, Carl and Sander, stu-
dents respectively at Swarthmore and Columbia Universities. Be-
fore returning home they visited in Toronto where they attended
the Jewish National Fund function in honor of their brother-in-
law, Hon. David Croll, in whose name a Nachlah has been named
in the Israel Negev.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Dombey have moved from their home on
Monterey Ave., to their new residence at 246.90 Parklawn, Oak
Park.
On Sunday night, Dec. 14, the social hall of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek will be transformed into a Hanukah setting by
Mrs. Albert Green and her committee, for the holiday dance to be
given jointly by the Men's Club and the Sisterhood. A buffet
supper will be served later in the evening. Mrs. Aaron Friedman
is social chairman.
While here to attend the weding of their son, Bernard Carl
Seltzer to Estelle Ruth Wider this Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Seltzer, of Houston, Tex., have been entertained by the_ bride-
elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Wider, and by the Harry
Metlers, Irwin Kramers, Paul Kramers and Art Kaminskys.

light the Hanukah candles and
present songs and recitations.
There will be two choirs, form-
ed from students of the after-
noon Yeshivah and the lowest
day school grades. The high
school will offer a special pro-
gram of recitations. Most of the
600 children will participate.
Admission will be free, and the
public is invited to attend. Re-.
freshments will be served to all
children attending.
Shochtim Strike in London
LONDON, (JTA) — Thousands
of Jewish homes in London went
without kosher meat as a result
of a strike of shochtim on a
question of 'working hours. The
slaughterers want to start work
at 9 a.m. daily and the Council
insists on a starting hour of
7:30 a.m.
The officers, directors and faculty
of the Beth Yehudah Schools this
week congratulated Mr. and Mrs.
Abraham Borman of Oakman
Boulevard upon the Bar Mitzvah
of their son, Leonard. The Bor-
mans are credited with a unique
way to mark their son's coming
of age in the religious community.
Leonard, a student at the Beth
Yehudah Day School on Dexter
and Cortland, will observe his Bar
Mitzvah this Saturday, at Shaarey
Zedek, and on that occasion his
parents will contribute a sum ap-
proximating the total of the
week's payroll for instructors of
the Yeshivah.

Scott and Dick Gregory, dance
team from Julie Adler Studios,
who are presently on tour with
Paul Whiteman's unit.
Mrs. William Singer is donor
chairman, and is assisted by
Mesdames Nwman Singer, Leon-
ard Stone, Richard Gunsberg
and Alvin August, who will help
Mr. Foster distribute some 50
awards at the event.
Other chairmen include Mes-
dames Meyer -Wiss, UN. 2-5967,
tickets; Meyer Kunick, table re-
servations; and John Kaplan,
entertainment chairman.

run immigration policy," in a
statement condemning the Mc-
Carran-Walter Immigration Act.
