Blind Catholic Teaches
At Yeshiva University
NEW YORK, (AJP)—Only a
Set of punctured cards bearing
the names of students in his
classroom offer a clue to the
basic difference
.which sets 35-
.year-old speech
.Anstruc t o r Ar-
ithur D. Imerti,
,za devout Cath-
olic, apart from
:ether professors
at the citadel of
Jewish learning,
yeshiva Univer-
imerti
sity.
Imerti is blind. The set of
cards are the Braille roll call
records he uses every day at the
start of class. But Imerti has
carved a career for himself that
would daunt many a man with
the full use of his eyes.
Imerti is popular with his stu-
dents, who classify him as a
"regular guy."
In addition to teaching two
speech classes in the College of
Arts and Sciences at Yeshiva
University, he is conducting a
class at the New School for So-
cial Research, where his job is
to improve the speech of a
group of German-born profes-
sors. He also plans to teach
Spanish and Italian at the New
School this summer.
Recently married, Imerti met_
his wife aboard a Greyhound
bus, in 1946, on his way to Mex-
ico City to attend a summer
session at the University of
Mexico. His wife, Frances, an
elementary school teacher from
Milwaukee, was aboard the bus
at the same time, and their five-
year-old friendship, carried on
through correspondence and
visits was climaxed by their
wedding here in New York,
March 25.

Explorer Writes Fine
Story About Eskimos
"Eskimo Boy" by Pipaluk
Freuchen, of the famous Eskimo-
Jewish Freuchen family (Loth-
rop, Lee & Shepard, Publisher,
419 4th, NY16), is a charming
book for boys and girls.
With Greenland as the setting
and the Arctic Sea as a fascin-
ating background, "Eskimo Boy"
is the tale of heroism about a
young fellow who suddenly finds I
himself the head of a family.
His courage, his daring hunting
trips, his escapades, form a
thrilling plot in this splendidly
written book. Ingrid Vang Ny-
man is the illustrator of the
book.
Pipaluk Freuchen-Haeger is
the daughter of the Arctic ex-
plorer, Peter Freuchen. Born
and raised in Greenland, with
her home at Thule, the highest
point in the north on Smith's1
Sotind, she is well acquainted I
---- With the area which forms the
---- background for her story. She
was 12 years old when she re- 1
turhed with her father to Den-
mark. Last year, upon their re-
turn to Greenland, they visited
20 'places along the west coast
and renewed old associations.
She was delighted to learn that
she still can speak the language
of her native land.
