Citrin as president. Citrin is a
charter member.
He has previously served as
president of the Men's Club,
treasurer of the congregation,
chairman of the finance com-
mittee, and vice-president. He is
prominently identified with Boy
Scout work and is a leader in the
local oil industry and president
of Oil Men's Club of Detroit.
Elected to serve with Citrin
were Louis H. Schostak, vice-
president; Earl Freshman, sec-
retary; and Jack 0. Lefton,
treasurer.
New members of the board of
trustees are Louis M. Bloomberg,
Sol R. Colton, Fred H. Gott-
furcht, Samuel J. Greenberg,
Nathan King, Reuben Levine,
Dr. Leo Orecklin, Ellis M.%Thal,
Morris W. Stein, and Mrs. Sam-
uel Blather. -
Harry C. LeVine,' outgoing
president, was presented with
an engraved, framed set of res-
olutions expressinK the gratitude
of the congregation for his lead-
ership in the building project.
The congregation adopted a
resolution to purchase additional
parking space to accommodate
400 cars.
In his annual report to the
congregation, Rabbi Leon Fram
asked for personal commitments
on the part of each member for

Presents Annual Picnic

Sidney Weinberg, president of
the Men's Club of Beth Aaron
Synagogue, announces the third
annual picnic will be held at 10
a.m., Sunday, at Cass Benton
Park. Games, races and prizes
will be , featured, and the Men's
Club will serve refreshments.
Members and their children are
invited.
Officers of the Men's Club,
who were recently installed, be-
sides Weinberg, include Sam
Lankin and Irwin Levine, vice-
presidents; Morris Katz, treas-
urer; Sid Levine, Max Mindlin,
secretaries; Jack Kanners and
Bernard Klein, sergeants - at-
arms; and board members,
Albert Lubin, Dr. Albert Kaplan,
Sol Docks, D. L. Davis, Ben
Dr ap kin, Herman Schwartz,
George Bennett, Morris Litvin.
Trustees are Sam Schneider,
Mac Silverman and Dr. Adolph
Winkler.

Synagogue Services

Sabbath evening services will
be held Friday evening, June 29,
at 8:30 p.m., at Temple Israel.
Sabbath morning services, June
30, will be held at 8:45. a.m., at
Cong. Bnai David, Adas Shalom
Synagogue and Cong. Joseph W.
Allen.
Services begin at 9 am., at
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, Cong. Ge-
miluth Chassoclim, Cong. Beth
Moses and Cong. Bnai Moshe.
Services at Temple Beth El are
at 11 Saturday.

At a meeting of the Vaad Ha-
bonim of Detroit on June 14,
the Council of Orthodox Rabbis
adopted a nine-point resolution
appealing to Detroit Jewry to
aid kosher caterers in maintain-
ing strict observance of kash-
ruth.
Letters pent to Caterers in the
Detroit area request that no
weddings be allowed from July
21 to Aug. 13. They further ask
that all affairs be planned so as
not to interfere with the holi-
days of Rosh Hashanah and
Sukkot.
The Vaad also asks that candy
containing milk not be served,
and that only kosher wines and
champagnes be used. With
longer days in summer the rab-
binical council asks that affairs
be delayed until after sundown.

Mark Tributes to Rabbi Sperka

An impressive- cantata espe-
cially prepared for the occasion
and tributes by leaders of his
congregation were on the pro-
gram Tuesday evening at the
dinner at the Bnai David in
honor of Rabbi Joshua S. Sper-
ka, on the double event—the
18th anniversary of his service
with the synagogue and his ap-
proaching visit in Israel.
Mrs. David J. Cohen was nar-
rator during the presentation of
the cantata in which a group of
15 women, members of the
Bnai David Choral Group, dis-
tinguished t h ems e l v e s. The
group was directed by Cantor
Hyman J. Adler, who also was
soloist on the program.
