U of M Hillel Plan's
Spring Weekend

Hillel Spring Weekend at the
University of Michigan, May 11
to 13, will bring many Detroit
parents to Ann Arbor to par-
ticipate in a three-day program
arranged by the Hillel Founda-
tion.
After Sabbath services Friday
evening, the Hillel dramatic
group will present a reading of
G. B. Shaws "Man and Super-
man."
Saturday, a picnic and a soft-
ball game between members of
Hillel and the Newman Club is
planned, to be followed by out-
door games. "Spring Fantasy,"
the annual Hillel spring dance,
will be held at the WAB lounge.
on Saturday night.
A combined carnival and Is-
rael State Day is scheduled for
Sunday, with fraternities, sorori-
ties and independent groups
competing in a prize booth con-
test. . A prize gill be awarded
the best booth at the carnival.
All proceeds are earmarked for
the United Jewish Appeal.
The Intercollegiate Zionist
Federation Chapter at U of M
has prepared a State Day pro-
gram, also on Sunday.
The activities will be brought
to a close Sunday evening when
"As You Like It," with Laurence
Olivier, will be screened as part
of Hillel's f i 1 m masterpiece
series.
The weekend festivities are
designed to give parents a
sampling of what H i 11 e 1 at
U of M is doing for Jewish stu-
dents.

Kubowi Named Israel's
Czechoslovak Minister

DR. LEON KlUBOWI
TEL AVIV, (JTA) — Dr. Leon
Kubowi (formerly Kuzowitzky),
world chairman of the World
Jewish Congress, has been nam-
ed Israel Minister plenipotenti-
ary to Prague, succeeding Shmu-
el Eliashiv, who has been named
Israel Minister to Moscow.

Jacobs to Launch
ZOA Bond Drive
In South Haven

Meyer Warshawsky, president
of the South Haven Zionist dis-
trict, and Melvin Sherman,
ZOA-Israel bond chairman of
the district, have announced
that the Israel bond drive will
officially be launched on Sun-
day evening in their community.
Morris M. Jacobs, regional
ZOA president, will deliver an
address, "Bondage to Bonds,"
after the showing of his per-
sonal technicolor movies taken
during his trip to Israel last
summer.
Similar meetings are being ar-
ranged for Grand Rapids, Lan-
sing, Kalamazoo, and Ann Arbor.

LZOA Selects Bond Drive Leaders

The Labor Zionist Organization last Saturday night elected
officers to direct the movement's Israel bond drive, at the meeting
that was addressed by Golda Myerson, Israel Minister of Labor.

Josef Gingold, violinist, for-
merly concertmaster with the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra,
will team up with Mischa Kott-
ler, pianist, and George Miquelle,
cellist, to play the final concert
in the 1951 CHAMBER MUSIC
SOCIETY series at 8:30 p.m.,
May 10, in the Art Institute.
