Associate Chairmen of Allied Drive
All Divisions of 1951 Drive
Begin Year's Solicitations
Irving W. Blumberg, Julian H. Krolik and Samuel H.
Rubiner have been named associate chairmen of the 1951
Allied Jewish Campaign, it was announced this week by
Abe Kasle, general chairman.• The three leaders are, respec-
tively, chairman of the Service Group, chairman of the ex-
- ecutivel committee and president of the Jewish Welfare Fed-

division's sponsoring committee.

Food Group Meets Tuesday
Opening their part of the
Campaign, leaders in the food
division will meet for dinner at
6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Carl's

Morey L. Rosenthal, co-chairmen, and
David B. Aaron, Abraham Borman, Tom
Borman, Jack Gilbert, Bernard Gourwitz„

Juniors to Hear. Lapides
Two major meetings will
launch the Junior Division phase
of the campaign. Lt. Col. Max
Lapides, director of "Operation
Magic Carpet" for the Joint Dis-
tribution Committee, will be the
speaker.
Workers in the Division will
hold an advance gifts luncheon,
at 12 noon, Sunday, March 25,
at Mayfair Caterers, 13305 Dex-
ter. The special gifts board will
sponsor a dinner at 6:30 p.m.
the same evening at the Belcrest
Hotel.
Col. Lapides, a Detroit attor-
ney who served with the Recon-
struction Finance Corporation
prior to World War II, achieved
h i s military commission in
Counter - Intelligence, attached
to the U. S. Eighth Air Force
during the war. In November
1949 he assumed the direction
of "Operation Magic Carpet,"
made possible by funds from
American Jews through the
United Jewish Appeal — major
beneficiary of the Allied Jewish
Campaign—in which giant Sky-
masters transported nearly the
entire Jewish community in Ye-
men, on the Arabian peninsula,
to Israel.
Albert M. Colman is chairman
of the advance gifts function.
Robert M. Feinberg is vice-

Irving H. Small, prominent
attorney and businessman, was
recently appointed commission-
er to the Public Welfare De-
partment by Mayor Albert E.
Cobo. Small, formerly state as-
sistant attorney general and
counsel for tht Michigan Public
Trust Commission, is president
of the Belcrest Hotel. He resides
at 1570 W. Seven Mile Rd., with
his wife, Lina, and children,

band, Harold M. Kaplan is the
brother of Mrs. Morton Hack of
Detroit.

man Rockwell at Bennington,
Vt., where her husband is a

To Be Radioed to Israel
NEW YORK, (JTA) —The
Voice of America Hebrew-lan-
guage broadcasts beamed to Is-
raei will start on April 16. The
daily broadcast will run for 30
