Junior Hadassah
To Support Pair
In Israel Village

Through their annual donor
dance, which is scheduled for
May 19, Detroit Junior Hadassah
members hope to . raise $19.00 to
care for two i2-year-old young-
sters who live at Meir Shfeyah,
the children's village in Israel
sponsored by the Junior Hadas-
sah.
The young Hadassah women,
all in their twenties, have adopt-
ed the ISraeli pair, and will un-
dertake to raise the sum to sup-
port them for a year. Both_ chil-
dren were taken to Meir Shfe-
yah after illness, death and
family problems had prevented
their living a normal life.
Over 200 children have been
brought to Israel by Youth Ali-
yah from Europe the Middle
East and North Africa, many of
whom are located at the youth
village. There are several hun-
dred residents at Meir Shfeyah,
with similar backgrounds, who
are able to survive only through
Junior Hadassah funds.
The group's annual monthly
social will take place Wednes-
day, at the Halevy Music Center.
There is a nominal charge for
non-members and men who
wish to attend.

Maimonides Plaque
Decorates U.S. Capitol

WASHINGTON, (JTA) — A
plaque depictaing Maimonides,
the great Jewish Philosopher,
has been installed in the rede-
corated House of Representatives
chamber at the Capitol as part
of a series of portraits of his-
toric figures who contributed to
the evolution of American law.
The plaque was sculptured by
Brenda Putnam of New York.

Study Club Plans
Feb. 27 Program
For Music Month

The Music Study Club of De-
troit will dedicate a program at
8:30 p.m., Feb. 27 to Jewish
Music Month.
To be held at the Davison
Jewish Center, the evening's en-
tertainment will include: a talk
on Jewish music by Mrs. Ira
Kaufman; songs by the club's
choral group,• which is under
the direction of Dan Frohman,
with Rose Bassin Stein, accom-
panist; and an instrumental
trio composed of Sadie Cooper
Braver, violinist; Harry Siegel,
cellist; and Rebbecca Frohman,
pianist and soloist.
Dancing and refreshments
following the program will be
provided by the Djerkiss bro-
thers. Mrs. Edward Zellman,
chairman, announced that the
meeting is open to husbands
and friends.
The club, through its philan-
thropic committee co-chairmen,
Mrs. Henry Weinberg and Mrs.
Ira G. Kaufman, has been act-
ively engaged in a program of
giving entertainment to children
and adults in various institu-
tions in Michigan.
At the Jewish Home for Aged,
a musical program was pre-
sented under the guidance of
Mrs. J. M. Greenberg. .
At the Wayne County Train-
ing school at Northville, Mrs.
Kaufman and Mrs. Weinberg
presented a combination of mu-
sic, dance and magic, and 650
boxes of candy were distributed.
The group was asked to return.
On Feb. 13, the Children's
Hospital of Detroit was visited
and books and gifts were dis-
tributed. The chairman was Mrs.
Michael Schot.
The Drama Group of Music
Study Club will present skits
and dramatic interludes as part
of a musical program at Dear-
born Veterans Hospital on Feb.
24. Chairman will be Mrs. Philip
Donan. Cigarettes will be dis-
tributed to the shut-ins.

Wolfe Kaufman,
Detroiter, Author
Of Fiction Work

Wolfe Kaufman, one of Broad-
way's top press agents, and a
former Detroiter, has .written a
book of - humorous short stories
about show business. The book,
entitled "Call Me Nate," to be
published April 3, is the • first
book announced for Spring pub-
lication by Exposition Press
Banner Books, the new trade
publishing division of Exposition
Press, New York.
Elliott Paul, noted auther, has
written an introduction. The
acid characterizations, razor-like
satire and plot twists are drawn
from Mr. Kaufman's own exper-
ience on Sunset Boulevard and
Broadway. He was a drama crit-
ic for the Chicago Sun and
Broadway reporter and reviewer
for Variety. He was press agent
for "Carmen Jones" and "Briga-
